Tell Me the Stories of Jesus

Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear;

Things I would ask Him to tell me if He were here;

Scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea,

Stories of Jesus, tell them to me.

First let me hear how the children stood round His knee,

And I shall fancy His blessing resting on me:

Words full of kindness, deeds full of grace,

All in the love light of Jesus’ face.

Tell me, in accents of wonder, how rolled the sea,

Tossing the boat in a tempest on Galilee!

And how the Master, ready and kind,

Chided the billows and hushed the wind.

Into the city I’d follow the children’s band,

Waving a branch of the palm tree high in my hand;

One of His heralds, yes, I would sing

Loudest hosannas, “Jesus is King!”

Tell how the sparrow that twitters on yonder tree

And the sweet meadow-side lily may speak to me—

Give me their message, for I would hear

How Jesus taught us our Father’s care.

Show me that scene in the garden, of bitter pain.

Show me the cross where my Saviour for me was slain.

Sad ones or bright ones, so that they be

Stories of Jesus, tell them to me.

Carlos has six speckled chickens. Every night before dark the six speck-led chickens go clucking up their little ladder to a tiny house that Carlos’s papi made for them. It is Car-los’s job to go out at night and close the door so the chickens are safe. In the morning when he opens the door, the chickens run down their ladder. They spend all day scratching in the yard and pecking under the coffee bushes as they look for bugs.

A Birthday for CalebChildren aren’t born with good manners. Home is where manners are first taught and practiced. “Manners are homemade, and we want to make good ones at our house,” Mama often says. Caleb tries, but he doesn’t always remember his man-ners. It’s even harder when he’s excited about helping to make his very own birthday cake! In this book, Caleb learns the joy of sharing his fourth birthday with his big brothers, the rest of his fam-ily, and his elderly neighbors. First book in the Manners are Homemade series.

Caleb Finds His TreasureCaleb works hard to remember to say “please” and “thank you,” and not to ask for candy when visiting the neighbors. His older brothers Andrew and Ben each have a treasure to show Daddy. I wish I could find a treasure, Caleb thinks. Then he finds something special outside in a pile of leaves. He puts it in his pocket to keep it safe until he can show Daddy what he found. After he loses the treasure, Caleb thanks God when it reap-pears in a very unusual place. Third book in the Manners are Homemade series.

Listen to this story Jesus told about a man who invited his friends to eat at his house. When the food was ready, the man sent his servant to bring his friends.

“Come, everything is ready,” the servant said.

But the man’s friends didn’t really want to come. Every one of them

had an excuse for not coming. One man told the servant, “I have just bought a field, and I need to go look at it. Please excuse me.”

One man said, “I bought ten oxen today, and I’m planning to work with them. Please excuse me.” Another man said, “I just got married, so I can’t come.”

How would you feel if your friends didn’t want to come to your house? The servant hurried back home and told his master that no one wanted to come.

The master was angry. Who would eat his special meal? The master decided what to do. He told the servant, “Go out into the city and invite all the poor, crippled, and blind people you can find. Make them all come, because I want my house to be full.”

This story tells us something about God. Just as the man wanted his friends to come to his house, God wants you and me to come to His place in Heaven someday. God wants Heaven to be full of His friends.

Tell Me the Stories of Jesus Caleb CriderThis new hardcover Bible storybook is a beautiful way to help children learn to love Jesus. The seventy stories from the life of Jesus—each one illustrated with a full-color oil painting—are designed to be read aloud to preschoolers. Each story includes three questions that promote interaction with children about the story.

In a time when so many Bible storybooks include fictional details and cartoon-like pictures, Tell Me the Stories of Jesus will become a trusted storybook that your family will return to again and again, forming in children’s minds the picture of Jesus as a caring, understanding, and trustworthy Friend.

La Larga Sombra de AdánAdam's Long ShadowJoseph StollWe learn from our mistakes. Such learning is a part of life. But we also learn from the mistakes of others. We even learn from the mistakes of people who lived long before our time. We take warning from those who fell. Because someone else stumbled, we watch our own steps more closely. Adam’s Long Shadow is a book of 14 different sins committed by groups or individuals. Studying these sins can be a means for living more carefully in the day and age in which we live. While these lessons are presented from a negative perspective, apply-ing the lessons to our own lives can be overwhelmingly positive.

Overcoming Inferiority Sara NoltJenna, the older sister, was beautiful. Talented. Popular. Neat. Confident. Sara was the next born—the ordinary one. For years she was simply known as “Jenna’s sister,” without an identity of her own. Falling into the trap of comparison, Sara became all too familiar with inferiority, the gut-wrenching pain of believing she was worthless. But she found victory and wants others to find it too.

Author Johnny Ruhl is an experienced horse trainer. When

working with horses, he often thought of the parallels between

training horses and the important life lessons that people need

to learn in order to live a fulfilled, God-honoring life. That is how

this collection of artfully crafted horse stories came to be.

The stories are fascinating in themselves, but more importantly,

each story teaches a valuable Christian principle. The teaching is

on two levels. As children read or listen to the stories, they will

catch something they can understand. Likewise, adults will see

additional truths at a deeper level that apply to their own lives.

Great stories for children—life-changing Biblical principles for

adults, with instructions at the end of the book to build a gee

haw whimmydiddle stick!
