Introduction This instruction manual contains a quick guide to connecting the most common valves on the market to NH3, HFC, and
CO2 refrigerants. The first pages provide an overview of both the stepper motor and modulating valves, which
refrigerants can be used, and the valve manufacturers’ specified capacities. The specified capacities are different
depending on the refrigerant, and therefore, the capacity values below are for guidance purposes only. The choice of
valve must adhere to the manufacturer's own guidelines.
After the overview, you can find instructions on how to setup each valve series in the HB Tool, as well as on how to
connect the valve to the sensor. Instructions and a detailed review of the HB Tool can be found in a separate
configuration manual for the individual sensor.

In most cases, the valve can be connected directly via the HBLC, HBLT-Wire, and HBDX sensors, which can supply the
valve with analogue control signals, for modulating valves, or pulse signals for stepper motors, and they can also
supply the selected valve with power.
The valves covered in the manual are listed in the table below. The first column indicates if the supply can be
connected directly via the sensors. “D” indicates that the valves can be connected and supplied directly. “IN” indicates
that these valves have a higher supply requirement than the sensors can provide, and they must therefore be supplied
with a separate power supply.
