-It did not support or protect. - Made situation worst.
The Repeal of The Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Act of 2011
Activism led to this repeal.
It gave those previously discharged the opportunity to re-enlist (HRC, 2012).
They can now serve
openly.
Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crime Prevention Act of 2009(HCPA Addresses any hate crime and the
prosecution of it (Chapin, 2011) Expands on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Which now includes -sexual orientation -gender identity -disability
