ENGLISH LANGUAGE FOUNDATIONENGLISH IMMERSION PROGRAMME (EIP)

This programme is a 12 months preparatory course designed for students who need to improve on the command of English. The lessons equip students with a full understanding of the English language and allow them to become accustomed to this medium of instruction used in schools in Singapore. Beside focusing on English Language, students will also learn other subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Social Studies/Business English, IT and Visual & Performing Arts. This programme fully prepares our students for further studies in our Secondary and Pre-University academic programmes. Students who have passed the EIP programme will be encouraged to sit for the IELTS/TOEFL/Oxford examinations. We are an approved test-centre for IELTS and TOEFL examinations, thus providing convenience to our students.

St Francis is a good school and the teachers are very friendly. My Mathematics and English have improved since I joined the school.

SFMS is an institution which has many international students. I learn aboutdifferent cultures from my school mates.

Thankfully, St Francis gave me a home far away from home. Over there, I shared a family with people from different countries, different cultural backgrounds, using different languages yet

we were strangely united and understood each other well. We were gradually getting closer despite speaking broken English initially and in turn, learning phrases in other languages. I shared

dreams with friends who were always there for me. I befriended teachers who refused to give-up on their students. What I loved even more about St Francis: the canteen aunty who knew right

away what I was about to order before I did, the security guard who noticed I didn’t come to school and asked me if I was fine the day after, the library lady who gave me candies every time I came. It was then that I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be, St Francis - where every

individual matters. I am really thankful for the time I spent there.

SINGAPORE CAMBRIDGE LOWER SECONDARY 1 & 2

The Lower Secondary 1 and 2 curriculums is a broad-based programme to set the student’s foundation in languages, mathematics, science, humanities and the aesthetics, in preparation for higher learning at Upper Secondary.

The content of all examinable subjects in Lower Secondary School (LSS) are taught based on the Singapore-Cambridge ‘O’ level Express stream syllabus as outlined by the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE). Camps and field trips are also included in the curriculum as part of our out-of-the classroom learning experience, so as to enable our students to see the relevance of their studies in relation to the real world.

UPPER SECONDARY AUSTRALIAN MATRICULATION PROGRAMME (YEAR 9 & 10)

The Upper Secondary AUSMAT Year 9 and 10 is a preparatory course for the AUSMAT Year 11 and 12 Programme leading to the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Students in the year 9 and 10 will have the knowledge, understanding, skills, and values needed in a changing world. The programme also aims to ensure that students achieve their personal best and develop a sense of pride in themselves, their schools, their environment and the society. All students in this program are registered in School Curriculum and Standard Authority (SCSA) of Western Australia. Furthermore, students in Year 9 need to sit for a compulsory National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) which aims to benchmark students’ literacy and numerical skills. The Year 10 students are expected to sit for the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) which is one of the requirements in obtaining WACE certificate.

PREPARATORY COURSE FOR SINGAPORE- CAMBRIDGE GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (ORDINARY LEVEL) (SEC 3 & 4)

The Preparatory Course for Singapore- Cambridge General Certificate of Education (GCE) ‘O’ Level Programme is a two-year programme. The University of Cambridge International Examination (CIE), the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board (SEAB) are the joint examining authorities for the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level examination. Students enrolled in this programme will acquire a strong academic foundation that prepares them for higher-level education.

PREPARATORY COURSE FOR PEARSON EDEXCEL INTERNATIONAL GCSE(SEC 3 & 4)

The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is a unique qualification that embraces the best practices of the UK GCSE which is popular with schools in the United Kingdom as well as internationally. It is administered by Edexcel, a member of Pearson, the world’s largest provider of educational publishing and learning solutions. Edexcel is the UK’s main government-regulated examination awarding body. The International GCSE boasts of a balanced international curriculum that is designed to encourage high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning and provides students with an international perspective in their studies.

Successful students receive an internationally recognised qualification, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), which provides good progression opportunities as it is recognised internationally by schools and universities. It provides an ideal preparation for higher level courses at SFMS, such as Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level, Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE) and Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business, as well as vocational training and employment.

PREPARATORY COURSE FOR PEARSON EDEXCEL INTERNATIONAL ADVANCED LEVEL (PU 1 & 2)

The Preparatory Course for Pearson Edexcel International Advanced Level (IAL) has been the culmination of Secondary education and a gateway to tertiary education or institutions of higher learning. It is internationally recognized and serves as an entry requirement for Degree and Professional courses worldwide. Students enrolled in this programme will acquire a strong academic foundation that enables them to fit into the first year of a Degree Programme.

This two-year programme is designed to equip ‘A’ Level students with a comprehensive set of skills that will enhance their future studies. It focuses on ensuring the acquisition of knowledge on the chosen subjects with constant emphasis on information that is relevant to the student’s career development. Students will be trained in developing critical thinking skills and the ability to be original in the analysis of world events. Assessment mode is modular in nature. Examinations are conducted twice a year, in January and June. The two-year ‘A’ Level Programme therefore provides a strong foundation for students to pursue their University education.

PREPARATORY COURSE FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (WACE) (YEAR 11 & 12)

The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Year 11 and 12 is an internationally recognised university preparatory programme administered by the School Curriculum and Standard Authority (SCSA) on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Western Australia. The WACE is equivalent to the GCE ‘A’ Level and is typically a full-time two-year programme.This programme focuses on applied knowledge rather than abstract theories.

At the end of Year 12, student’s ability are measured not only from the results of the final external examination conducted by SCSA in November, but also through the student’s achievements in school projects, assignments, tests and presentations. A wide range of subjects are offered to suit each student’s academic preference.

PEARSON BTEC LEVEL 5 HND DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS (2 YEARS)

The Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma in Business is designed to meet the needs of business organizations. It provides students with a practical overview of the business world while also offering opportunities for specialization in various different fields of Business. We offer Pearson BTEC level 5 HND Diploma in Business as a two-year University-bridging course that guarantees students who pass all modules in the programme a place in many universities such as University of Portsmouth (UK) and University of Southern Queensland (Australia). Students with good grades are eligible for advance standing for entry into 2nd year or 3rd year of some UK and Australia Universities Business Degree programme.
