Why have this workshop SharePoint has developed a reputation for runaway sites and confusing navigation, but it need not be this way. We can help you develop governance that suits your organisation’s goals and culture, and ensure that you have both the right team and policies in place. By the end of the day you will:

What we cover We use a mix of interactive exercises, good practice examples from real-‐world intranets and unique reference material that you’ll be able to take back to your teams and immediately put into action. We can adapt the topics to fit your needs, but a typical agenda would be:
• What effective governance should include • The role of governance in supporting implementation • People roles: sponsors, steering groups and the intranet team • Documenting governance – what to cover, getting the tone right, how to create it • Managing operations – how to prevent site sprawl and cultivating good practice • Practical implementation – how to go from theory to practice
Rather than weighty governance documentation that can switch people off, we emphasise the need to combine education, awareness and reinforcement approaches to get the outcomes that really matter.
What you get The workshop preparation includes a two-‐hour consultation to understand your specific requirements for the day, the profiles of the participants and your goals for SharePoint. We then tailor the agenda from a range of training modules that we have prepared. Materials are provided electronically for internal use, and we’ll bring copies of worksheets for each participant.

About the trainer The workshops are run by Sam Marshall, the owner of ClearBox Consulting. He has specialised in intranets and the digital workplace for over 15 years, working with companies such as Unilever, AstraZeneca, AkzoNobel, BT, The RSPB, Standard Life and Ofgem. Sam’s current activities focus on intranet and digital workplace strategy, the business side of SharePoint, and the use of social tools for collaboration and internal communication. Sam was responsible for Unilever’s Global Portal Implementation, overseeing the roll-‐out of over 700 online communities to 90,000 people and consolidating several thousand intranets into one. Sam also worked as a freelance Benchmarking Lead for the Intranet Benchmarking Forum, conducting hands-‐on reviews for over 40 companies on intranet strategy, content, value and design. He is a regular speaker at international conferences. Sam has an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, an MA in Psychology and more bicycles than shoes.
