MadPad: Remix Your Life!

MadPad is an application for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad that turns your everyday life into a symphony of music. MadPad was launched in September 2011 into the App Store and has had over 1 million downloads to date.

Bye Bye Buddy or My Best Friend, a Giant Satellite Dish Music moves you, and in the spring of 2010 I embarked on a journey to create an immersive sound installation at the Stanford Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). The resulting work, Bye Bye Buddy, is an attempt to bring the physicality that I experience when performing music to a larger audience.

Hugs!Hugs are a universal gesture that signify warmth, embrace, and connection. In 2012 I set out to design a series of experiences to encourage more friendly physical contact between people.

So far, two prototypes have been implemented; the first is an application for logging and reflecting on hugs that was created for the inaugural d.compress:Designing Calm class led by the Stanford Calming Technology Lab; the second was a series of colorful stick-ers I designed for the 2012 Quantified Self Conference.
