One should try to recite Birkat Hamazon from a text as one has a much better chance for more kavanah. What is the halacha if one recited Al Hamichya, the blessing recited after grain products such as cake, spaghetti, do they satisfy their obligation bdeaved after the fact? Many Acharonim say no as the second bracha of Birkat Hamazon (Nodeh Lcha) contains a list of thank yous including bris circumcision and Torah, and these ideas are not included in Al Hamichya. Others argue that since he said the complete text of Al Hamichya – bdeaved it is ok. What should one do if they made this mistake? 1. Ideally, wash again, have a piece of bread and recite Bikat Hamazon which will cover the first meal again. 2. Listen to Birkat Hamazon from someone else who is about to bentch. MIKVAH SCHEDULE The current weekday Mikva hours are 9:00pm – 10:30pm.

The Mikvah opens on Motzei Shabbat and Motzei Yom Tov approximately one hour after Shabbat and Yom Tov ends, and stays open for 1-1/2 hours. Please note that any arrival after 1/2 hour before closing time will incur a $25.00 late fee. To obtain a current detailed schedule for the Mikvah, please check the Mikvah webpage on Shomrei-Torah.org, under Services, or call the Mikvah tape for updates and important information: 201-796-0350. YOUTH DEPARTMENT NEWS Youth Minyan is on summer break. We will keep you posted as to when it will return.

Groups for 3-5 year olds and groups for 5-7 year olds will meet at 9:30am.

NURSERY SCHOOL NEWS This week was Rainbow week and Summer Olympics. The children enjoyed many colorful activities. During Yoga with Jessica they enjoyed playing with different colored scarves and stretching to the sounds of the calming bells. The Butterflies enjoyed working with colored play dough and drawing de-signs on colorful papers. They also made colorful masks and door hangers using a spin art machine. Both bunks painted with colorful ice and had fun tie dyeing t-shirts. The children are hard at work making their very own summer siddurim. In the true Olympic spirit, the Monkeys participated in many competitive and fun games and activities. They had a hula hoop con-test and played hop scotch with hula hoops. During Sports with Michael both bunks enjoyed playing Hide and Seek and running through a colorful obstacle course. Music with Karen was lots of fun and we all welcomed Rabbi Yudin back from Israel during our Shabbat party. Shabbat Shalom!

This coming Thursday, August 17th shiur, beer and BBQ will be at the home of Yehuda and Ariela Brum 11-18 Fairhaven Pl. Mincha will be at 7:40pm, followed by shiur, beer and BBQ.

NCSY'S SUMMER GIRLS LEARNING INITIATIVE Join us 7:15pm on Thursday nights for NCSY'S Sum-mer Girls Learning Initiative. SGLI is an opportunity for high school girls who are home for the summer to spend time with oth-er girls their age and have some exciting Torah learning experiences from dynamic presenters from our local Yeshivot. SGLI is sponsored by NCSY and supported by Bruriah, Frisch, Maayanot and Yeshiva High School for Girls.The last session of the summer on August 17 will be in the youth building Congregation Beth Abraham, 406 Newbridge Road. BABYSITTING ON HIGH HOLIDAYS

Shomrei Torah is extremely excited to announce a new and improved babysitting program for R'H and Y"K. There will be 3-4 separate programs for ages 3-10. Snacks will be provided. Lunch and snacks will be provided on YK. Schedules will include - games, davening, shofar blowing in the groups, outside play, and more. Qualified and experienced babysitters will be running activities. Parental volunteers will participate in shifts to ensure the program runs smoothly.
