Dante Was Here Photo Creativity Group

Shootinf Shooters is a collection of several portraits featuring photographers from the Ottawa area.

The images were shown at the Dante Was here Fall Exhibition and was part of a much larger effford.

Eight photographers, eight different subjects, eight points of view. This diverse array of work based on assignments given

to the group during the summer, were displayed as photographic prints at the Armada Lounge in Ottawa. The exhibition

spans a wide range of photographic genres, including fine art, documentary, and studio and environmental portraiture.

About the Group:We are a group of photographers who are dedicated to advancing the art and craft of photography with respect to creativity and lasting value of this popular, expressive medium. We are committed to this goal through continuing education, mentoring, propagating innovative ideas and bringing new pho-tographic works to the public through exhibitions, presentations seminars and workshops. The group was formed by Yannis Souris and Azimir Burzic, of Ottawa, Canada. Peter Juranka, Charles Earl, Robert James, Eric Fruhauf, Caroline Gomersall, Menno Spijker, Natasha Penknovich, Maureen Murphy and Bob Acton complete Dante’s core. About Yannis SourisExposure to journalism gained Yannis extensive experience in commercial art. His talent quickly led him to a successful career in ad-

vertising as an award-winning art director. Yannis’ interest in photography as an art medium, however, led to considerable exposure

in the past few years.

He has been recognized three years in a row with Photographer of the Year awards in Ottawa, and has had several exhibitions of

his work. He has had photographs and articles on the subject of creativity published internationally in magazines like Photo Life,

Canadian Camera, Photo Art, and PhotoDigital.

Yannis is a regular presenter of creativity workshops and seminars. Raised in Athens, Greece, he has a BA degree from Athens and

a HBsc (Biochemistry) from Canada’s Laurentian University. Father of Dominique, Manuello and Dante, Yannis lives and works as a

creative marketing consultant in Ottawa, Canada
