‘THE HUGE SNOOZE’ MAGAZINE ARTICLE

Page 3: Short film article analysis

IMAGES IN THE ARTICLE

Within this article there is two main images these are both of the main character of the film, this suggest that he dominates the whole film and highlights how important he is to it. As a result of mise-en-scene the lighting is very dark and even in black and white which is significant because it explains to the reader that the film is set in 1940’s time before colour was invented.

Furthermore the actual images give little away about the storyline. For example one has the main character looking through blinds and the other one uses depth of field of his shoe and him in the background which are important because they give a bit about the actual film away without it being over the top and ruining the whole short film.

The Image of the shoe with chewing gum at the bottom also suggests that the main character is a messy person and doesn’t care much for hygiene, which is again represented with his actual shoes because it is broken.

These images both have captions so the reader know that they are linked to the film.

The images at the bottom of the page is a small storyboard of what happens in the film , this is in 1940’s style like a camera real would be. Which again follows the house styles.

THE TITLESThe title of ‘Here’s looking at you, Craig’ is important

because it tells the audience that the whole film is based upon the actor Craig Cameron Fisher and as it mentions in the article he is a very famous actor. Which explains that this film has used star power to try and engage a lot more target audience to watch it, compared to the amount of people who would watch it otherwise.

This is again in 1940’s American typed font which has been done to support the house styles of the whole film.

The name of the film ‘The Huge Snooze’ is positioned just below the articles main masthead however is a lot smaller this has been done to advertise the film and so the readers know what film they are reviewing.

A review of the film in terms of stars and the release date has also been placed under the titles to tell the audience that it is a must watch film and they know when they can go and see it.

THE ACTUAL ARTICLE

The article is more of interview to the main character Craig Cameron Fisher, he is predominantly asked about his work with the Director Ciaran Davis in a interview typed format. This supports the idea that the Craig Fisher is the star who will sell film, however in articles like this he will help raise the profile of other people such as directors like Ciaran because he is being bigged up by a star, there is no difference between this and Johnny Depp promoting a new up and coming director.

Furthermore it also has the magazines own review of the film itself which helps the readers go and see the film because it is very positive, however if it wasn’t this could really affect the films chances of doing well. This is in a box out in red so it stands out and makes people wan to read it because of how different the colours are compared to the rest of the article.
