They were both flourishing in their full-time careers and life was going well. A few months after closing on the house, Mike was laid ofrom his job. He hunted for a similar position, but was unable to replace the salary he previously enjoyed. For a few months the couple worried they would lose their home, but with utility assistance provided by the Task Force, they were able to keep up on their mortgage payment. Dear Friend of Douglas / Elbert Task Force,

Happy New Year!

For most of us, resolutions and hope for a happy and prosperous new year are a common sentiment at this time of year. For some in our community however, prospects for 2018 are already bleak.

Life sometimes throws us a curveball - a job loss, divorce or a severe medical issue. Circumstances like those can be all it takes to cause a financial crisis. Thankfully, the Douglas / Elbert Task Force is able to help those members of our community weather those storms.

Your financial support and donations of clothing and household goods, along with the thousands of hours of help from caring volunteers, means help and hope for struggling families, single parents and individuals - our neighbors!

I’m so grateful for your partnership in our mission!Your generosity makes a real impact. Thank you!

Giving Help and Hope Together,

Dan MarlowExecutive Director

P.S. One of our goals for 2018 is to increase our number of monthly financial supporters. Please see the panel on the next page to find out how you can help.

Would you consider becoming a monthly financial partner to help us even out the peaks and valleys of our ongoing budgetary needs?

• $25 - Provides groceries and other household essentials for a family.
