What is a career college?Career colleges are just what they say – post secondary institutions dedicated to career based learning. They are focused on providing skills to meet the needs of today’s job market. What do you want to do? My best advice to anyone seeking to ad-vance their employment opportunities is to sit down and write out what your ca-reer goals are – make a plan, imagine you in your new career. Do your interests in-volve computers, graphic design, health-care, administration, accounting or trades? Once you make that decision, career colleg-es are there to help you defi ne your career goals. Where should you start? Once you have a plan, take a look at as many colleges as you can. Visit the colleges that offer the types of training you are interested in. Set up appointments, bring your ques-tions and observe. What is the atmosphere of the campus like? Is it clean, professional? Ask them for graduation statistics for the career you are interested in. Find out what kind of business relationships the college has established. Remember, you are the one doing the interviewing, there is no need to ‘enroll’ right away or put money down to ‘hold a seat’. Make sure you leave with the following information:

the program you are looking into.

credited and their programs are recog-nized and have proven marketability.

fered by the college such as career place-ment, life time upgrading options and other student services.

ates and businesses that have positive re-lationships with the college.

their training.

ed? Can the training work around your daycare, transportation schedule or other day to day demands?

What are you waiting for?Kick start your career! At the Academy of Learning, our motivation is your success. Whether it is as simple as a review of your

tion, we want to help you attain your goals. Come down and see what we are all about. The Academy of Learning has 2 campuses

absolute dedication to our past and present students is what we credit for our continued success and that remains our only accept-able benchmark. “I honesty believe that our greatest responsibility is to our students. By working with each one individually to develop a plan that bests suits their needs I am confi dent that through the entire process from training to employment, we never lose sight of that.” Jeanine Reemst, Programs Advisor. At the Academy of Learning we recognize quite simply that our greatest referral source is our past graduates and that is why we spend so much time working to establish re-lationships within the business communities

we live and work in. The better our train-ing is recognized, the better the opportuni-ties for our students to utilize those skills in the workplace. We also have an affi liation agreement with VIHA and provide retrain-

ing for clients such as: BC and Fed Gov’t,

are lots of funding options available – from monthly StudentAid BC disbursements, pay per course plans and employer invoicing, we are here to help you access the training you need.

Have you always wanted to improve your MS Offi ce skills? Or get into Payroll and Account-ing? What about Business Administration? Or Graphic Web Design and IT? Curious about MOA or RCA? Let the Academy of Learning be the fi rst step toward your future success.
