CHAPTER 1 Introduction

Welcome!

Welcome to the world of Short Messaging Services (SMS). Thank You for choosing Simado SMS1000 for Short

Messaging Services. Simado SMS1000 is the easiest solution to use and manage the needs of your Messaging

world. We hope you will make optimum use of this intelligent, intuitive, feature-packed software. Please read this

document carefully before installing your Simado SMS1000.

Simado SMS1000 User’s Guide contains detailed information and instructions for installing and using this

software. We have made the best efforts to let you know your SMS software so that it becomes a fun for you to

use it.

Organization of this document 

This User’s Guide contains following topics:

Introduction: Gives an overview of this document, its purpose, organization, terms and conventions

used to present information and instructions.

Knowing Simado SMS1000: Helps you to know and understand your SMS software.

CHAPTER 2 Knowing Simado SMS1000

Simado SMS1000 is easy to use, powerful PC based SMS software that allows you to send text messages to

individuals or mass of people from your Personal computer to all mobile phones in one single click.

Simado SMS1000 works with all the following Matrix GSM products:

• Matrix Simado GDT11• Matrix Simado GFXD1111

• Matrix Simado GFXD1111S

Simado SMS1000 is very easy to use and can be easily operated without any internet connection. This software

has following features:

• Send unlimited numbers of text messages from your personal computer to mobile phones in a single

click.

• Send quick messages to all your friends, relatives, family members in the most easy and economical

way.

• You can enter addressee's phone number manually or can import address file from your PC. (Address

file in the computer should be stored either in excel format or .CSV file format)

• Supports all Windows Operating System!

• It is easy to use and safe PC to mobile SMS software.

To use this software you require:

• Computer with a CD drive and a COM port.

• GSM modem compatible with the software i.e. either of Matrix Simado GDT11 or GFXD1111 or 

GFXD1111S.

• COM port cable.

• SIM Card

• And Power Supply

You can send and receive only text messages using Simado SMS1000. It is easier to type messages and sendit to an individual or a mass of people using this software. Also sending message via software is quicker than

sending it using mobile phone.

CHAPTER 3 Getting Started

Installing Simado SMS1000

Matrix Simado SMS1000 works with Simado GDT11/Simado GFXD1111/Simado GFXD1111S. Before installing

Simado SMS1000, you must install any of the above mentioned Simado GSM system. (For installing Simado

GDT11/GFXD1111/GFXD1111S, please refer the respective system manual)

For installing Simado SMS1000, follow the steps given below:

1. Insert Matrix Simado SMS software CD in the CD drive of your computer.

2. Simado SMS1000 software is an auto-run program. Installation starts automatically once you insert the

CD in the CD drive of your computer.

3. If program does not run automatically then: Open 'My Computer' on your desktop J Double-click on the

CD drive to view the contents of the CD J Unzip the zipped file and double-click on the set-up file to

install the software.

4. Windows Installer window will appear on the screen.

5.  After few seconds, a Set Up wizard will appear on the screen as shown below:

6. Click 'Next' to store the set up files of the software in your PC. By default, it is stored in "C:\Program

Files\MatrixSimadoSMS1000\".

7. If you do not want to store set-up files in above mentioned folder, click on browse button and select

another folder to store the set up files in that folder. Also select an option 'Everyone' if you want

everyone, who uses the computer, to use this software. By default, 'Just me' option is selected.

8. Click 'Next'. Confirm Installation window will appear on the screen.

9. Click 'Next' to start installation. Installation will take approximately 2 minutes.

10. Click on Close button to close the installation wizard. An icon to open the software appears on the

desktop as shown below:

11. Click on 'Matrix Simado SMS1000' icon. A window for activating license key will appear on the screen.

12. Enter mobile number on which you want to receive 'License Key', in the field for entering mobile

number and click on 'Get License Key' button.

13. After few seconds, you will receive sms containing the license key for registering the software on the

SMS server. Enter this license key in the license key text box and click on 'Activate License Key' button.

14. Home Page of Simado SMS1000 software will appear on the screen.

15. Click on 'Configuration' icon and configure the following parameters.

• COM Port Settings: Following configuration for communication ports are recommended for computer 

connectivity or programming through computer. You can change these configurations as per your requirement:

• COM Port: By default, COM 1 is selected.

• Bits Per Second: By default, it is 9600.

• Data Bits: By default, it is 8.

• Parity: By default, it is None.

• Stop Bits: By default, it is 1.

• User Signature: Insert you signature in the 'User Signature' box if you want to send your signature with

every message sent. By default, it is blank.

• Time Interval Setting: Select the time after which you want to send and receive messages. By default,

it is 1minute.

This time interval specifies the time interval between two consecutive attempt made by the system to

send and receive the messages.

• Incoming SMS Setting: By default, incoming messages are checked after sending 20 messages.

Select the number of messages after which the software shall check incoming messages in 'Check

Incoming SMSs After Sending XX SMSs' field.

• Click on 'Save' button to save the configuration done by you. To reset the configuration to the default

values, click on 'Reset' button.

16. After doing proper configuration, click on Home Page icon.

17. Click on the 'Click Me' button on the screen to connect the software with either of Simado GDT11/

GFXD1111/GFXD1111S system. When the software is connected to the modem, Modem connectivity

button and 'Click Me' button is turned ON and it appears green in colour. When the software and

modem is not connected, both 'Modem Connectivity' and 'Click Me' buttons are Off and appears red in

colour.

18. Simado SMS1000 is now ready for use.

Ensure that no other computer application is using the same COM port, using which the SMS1000 is

connected to the GSM system else error message "COM port is already open" will appear on the

screen while connecting software to the system.

SMS Server Setting

SMS server mobile number is required for activating the license key of the SMS software. You require this

number when you install the software for the first time in your computer. Latest SMS server mobile number is

required every time you install this software on different computers. This number is programmed in the software

but the number might change. You should update SMS server setting to know the latest SMS server mobile

number. SMS server settings can be updated automatically as well as manually.

• To update server mobile number automatically, you should have an active internet connection.

a. Click on 'Configuration' button on the home page of the software and click on 'Update SMS Server 

Mobile Number' link.

b. SMS server setting window will appear on the screen. Connect your PC to the internet and click on

'Update' button to get latest mobile number from the SMS server.

• To update SMS server mobile number manually, contact the vendor to know the latest SMS server 

mobile number.

a. Note down or remember the number given by the vendor and then click on 'Update SMS Server 

Mobile Number' link on the configuration page.

b. SMS server setting window will appear on the screen. Select and enable 'Change server settingmanually' option.

c. Enter the mobile number in 'Mobile No of SMS server' filed and click on 'Update' button to update the

SMS server mobile number manually.

CHAPTER 4 Features of Simado SMS1000

In the Home page of the software, following icons appear on the left side of the window:

Home

Home page of the Simado SMS1000 displays the following parameters:

• Message Summary: Shows total messages in the Inbox as well as Outbox.

• Total SMS in Inbox: Shows total number of messages received.

• Total SMS in Outbox: Shows total number of messages that are pending to be sent.

• Message Counter: Shows total number of messages sent successfully. Click on 'Reset Counter' button

to reset the number of sent messages to zero. Message counter displays total messages sent by the

software, unless it is reset to zero. The number of messages in this field does not change if you delete

the messages from 'Sentbox'. It is same as the Message Log of your mobile phone.

• Server Connectivity: Modem connectivity button is turned On and green in color if the software is

connected to the system else it is Off and red in color.

• Modem ON/Off: This parameter is Off and displayed red in color when software and system are not

connected. Turn it On by clicking on 'Click Me' button. It will turn On and green in color as soon as the

system gets connected to the software.

INBOX

Inbox of Simado SMS1000 displays the received messages as shown below:

Inbox displays total five columns:

1. Check Box: This column consists of a check box. You may select the message by clicking this check

box.

2. Fwd: This column shows a symbol (an arrow) as shown above. It indicates that the message has been

forwarded.

3. Mobile No.: This column shows the mobile number of the sender.

4. Message: This column shows the initial part of the message. To view the full message, you may either 

double-click the message or select the message and click on 'View' button on the top.

5. Date: This column shows the date and time of the arrival of the message.

Unread messages are displayed in blue fonts. Once the message is viewed by the recipient, its fonts

are turned black.

Template: You can save the received messages as a template in the software. To save a message as a

template, select the message and click on 'Template' button. Following message will appear on the screen.

• Click on 'Yes' button. It will ask you to select the category to save the message. Select the category and

click on 'Save' button.

• A confirmation message will appear on the screen. Click 'Ok' and message will be saved as a template.

You may select and save multiple messages in the inbox at a time as templates.

• Contact: You can save the contact number of the received messages in your address book. To savethe contact number of incoming messages in your address book, select the message and click on

'Contact' button. Following window will appear on the screen:

• Click on 'Yes' button and contact number of the selected messages will be saved in your Address book.

You may select multiple messages at a time and save contact numbers of all the selected messages in

the address book.

• View: To view the full message received in the Inbox, select the message and click on 'View' button.

Following window will appear on the screen:

• After reading the message, click on 'Cancel' button to go back to the inbox. You may also forward the

read message by clicking on the 'Forward' button.

You can view only one message at a time i.e. if you select multiple messages and click on 'View' button,

only the one in blue strip shall be viewed as shown below:

• Forward: You can also forward the received messages to the desired contact numbers. To forward the

message, click on forward button. Following screen will appear:

• Enter the contact number manually in 'To' field or select the same from the address book to forward the

message. Click on send button and message will be forwarded to the desired numbers.

You can forward only one message at a time i.e. if you select multiple messages and click on 'Forward' 

button, only the one in blue strip shall be forwarded.

• Delete: You can delete the messages received in the Inbox. Select the messages that you want to

delete and click on the 'Delete' button. Following window will appear on the screen:

• Click on 'Yes' button to delete all the selected messages. All the selected messages will be deleted.

You may select and delete multiple messages in the inbox at a time.

OUTBOX

 As soon as a message is sent, it is moved to the Outbox. Successfully sent messages are stored in the Sentbox.

• You can view as well as delete the pending message in the outbox before it is sent. To view or delete

the messages in outbox, select the message and click on the respective button.

SENTBOX

 All successfully delivered messages are saved and are displayed in the Sentbox as shown below:

• You can view as well as delete the messages from the Sentbox. To view or delete the message, select

the message and click on the respective button.

ADDRESS BOOK

You can save frequently used contact numbers in the address book of the software. Address book of thesoftware is displayed as under:

• New: To add a new contact number in your address book, click on 'New' button. Following window will

appear on the screen:

• Enter Name, Address, City and Mobile number of the person whose number you want to save in your 

address book and click on the save button.

• Group: You can also create a group to send messages quickly to the whole group as and when

required. It makes sending of the messages easier and quicker. To create a group, click on 'Group'

button, following screen will appear:

• Enter the name for the group in the Group Name field. Select the names to be added in the group and

click on '>' button. Click on save button, a confirmation window will appear on the screen as shown

below:

• Click on 'Ok' button. Group will be formed as shown below:

You can also edit the created group by adding or removing the contacts from the group as and when

required by clicking on 'Open' button.

• Delete: You can delete the contact from the address book. Select the contact that you want to deleteand click on delete button, a confirmation window will appear on the screen. Click on 'Yes' button and

the selected contact will be deleted.

• You can also delete the whole group by selecting the group and clicking on the delete button. Click on

'Yes' button and the selected group will be deleted.

When you delete the group, only the group formed will be deleted. Contacts in the group shall not be

deleted. But if you delete an individual contact then the same will be removed from the group also if that 

individual is member of the group.

• Import: You can also import the contact address from your computer. Only addresses stored in .CSV

and Excel File format can be imported.

• Click on Browse button and select the file from which you want to import the contact addresses in your 

address book.

• Click 'Ok' button. All the contact numbers from the selected file will be imported in the address book.

The file that is to be imported should have minimum four columns and it is mandatory to have name in

the first column and the mobile number in the fourth column. First row of the file should be kept blank. If 

the file to be imported is not in the prescribed format then it will not be imported in the software.

• Search: You can search contact by his name, address, city and mobile number. Enter name/address/

city/mobile number in the search field to search the contact. You can also send message to all or one of 

the searched contacts. Select the contact and click on Send SMS button to send him a message. Click

on 'Cancel' button to go back.

• Send: You can send message to one or more of the contact saved in the address book. Select the

contacts to which you want to send the messages and click on send button. You can also send

message to the group by selecting the group and clicking on 'Send' button.

SEND SMS

Using Simado SMS1000, you can send messages in bulk. Click on Send SMS icon, following page will be

displayed on the screen:

You have following options for sending SMS:

1. Enter destination mobile numbers manually in 'To' field. Type message to be sent in the message field

and click on send button.

2. Click on 'To' button, address book will open up. Select the contacts and click on 'Select' button. Type the

message in the 'Message' field and click on send button.

3. Click on 'Import' button. Click on browse button and select the file that is to be imported from your 

computer. Also select the column in 'Fields' combo box, in which the mobile numbers are stored. Click

'Ok' button and all the addresses from the selected file will be imported in the 'To' field. Type message in

the message field and click on 'Send' button. Message will be sent to all the imported addresses.

4. You can enter a range of mobile number by clicking on 'Range' button to send message to a group of 

people together. This type of services is generally used for marketing purpose. For example to send

message to 100 people whose numbers are in sequence from 9898010000 to 9898010100, click on

'Range' button and enter the numbers in 'From' and 'To' fields and click on 'Ok' button.

Type the desired message in the message box and click on 'Send' button.

• Besides this instead of typing message in the message box, you can select a template and send it to

the desired mobile numbers as shown below:

1. In message field, you can type maximum 255 characters. If message length is more than 160 

characters, it will be sent in two segments and your service provider will charge you accordingly.

2. You can send message to maximum 1000 mobile numbers at a time.

3. You can save the typed message as a template before sending it so that next time if you want to

send the same message to other destination numbers, you need not to type the message again and 

again.

• Send as Flash Message: Select this option to send flash message on the destination mobile number.

Flash messages cannot be stored and it will disappear once the receiver reads the message and click

on the exit button. Maximum length of Flash message is 70 characters only.

• Use Signature: Select this option if you want to send your signature with every message you send.

User Signature is to be saved in the configuration page.

• Request for Delivery Report: Select this option if you want delivery report of the message sent. If this

option is selected, you will receive a delivery report as soon the message is delivered on the destination

mobile phone.

TEMPLATE

Click on 'Template' icon to make and store templates that can be used frequently. For example, you can make

and save template of your company's product list so that if you want to send it, you need not to type it again.

To make a template, follow the steps given below:

• Create a category first. Click on 'New' button and enter the category name in the 'Category Name' field

and click on 'Save' button to save it.

• After creating a category, create template. Select category, enter template name and enter the template

message in the message field. Click on 'Save' button to save the template and you may use it as per 

your need.

1. You can edit category name. Double-click on the category, make required change and then click on

'Save' button.

2. To edit a template, double-click on the template and make the required changes. Click on 'Save' 

button to save the changes.

• You can delete a template by selecting the template and clicking on delete button. A message box will

appear on the screen as shown below.

• Click on 'Yes' button, you will get a confirmation message on the screen. Click on 'Ok' button, template

will be deleted.

• To delete a category, you should first delete all the templates stored in that category. After deleting

templates, click on delete button above Category List. Following message will appear on the screen:

• Click on 'Yes' button. Confirmation message will appear on the screen. Click on 'Ok' button, category

will be deleted.

CONFIGURATION

Click on configuration icon. In configuration page, COM Port Settings, User Signature, Time Interval Settings

and Incoming SMS Settings are displayed.

• COM Port Settings: Following configuration for communication ports are recommended for computer 

connectivity or programming through computer. You can change these configurations as per your 

requirement:

• COM Port: By default, COM 1 is selected.

• Bits Per Second: By default, it is 9600.

• Data Bits: By default, it is 8.

• Parity: By default, it is None.

• Stop Bits: By default, it is 1.

• User Signature: Insert you signature in the 'User Signature' box if you want to send your signature with

every message. By default, it is blank.

• Time Interval Setting: Select the time after which you want to send and receive messages. By default,

it is 1minute.

This time interval specifies the time period between two consecutive attempt made by the software to

send and receive the messages.

• Incoming SMS Setting: By default, incoming messages are checked after sending 20 messages.

Select the number of messages after which the software shall check for incoming messages in 'Check

Incoming SMSs After Sending XX SMSs' field.

• Click on 'Save' button to save the configuration done by you. To reset the configuration to defaultvalues, click on 'Reset' button.

A: Trouble Shooting and FAQs

Problem Remedy

Unable to activate the licensekey of the Software

1. Check whether IMEI number of the modem is registered with the SMSsoftware server. (Contact the vendor from whom you have purchased

this software to know the same)

2. Check whether the SMS server mobile number programmed in the

software is the latest one. If not so, update SMS sever settings and try

again.

Unable to connect Simado

SMS1000 to Matrix GSM

system (Simado GDT11/

GFXD1111/ GFXD1111s)

1. Check whether the Matrix GSM system is properly turned On or not. If 

not please refer respective system manual and turn it On.

2. Check whether SIM card is present or not. If present check whether it

is active and working properly or not.

3. Check COM Port cable connecting the system and your computer. If it

is not in working condition then change the cable and try again.

4. Check 'COM Port Settings' configuration in the configuration page. You

shall program the same COM port in the 'COM port settings' parameter 

using which the system is connected to the computer.

Unable to send and receive

messages

1. Check whether the SIM card is inserted correctly in the system.

2. Check whether the system is working properly or not. If not check the

aerial and COM cable connection.

3. Check whether the SIM is active or not.

Unable to import addresses

in the address book from the

computer 

Check the file format, in which addresses are stored in your computer.

To import it in the SMS software, it should be in either Excel file format

or .CSV file format. Also the address file should have minimum four 

columns and first and fourth column should consist of Name and

Mobile number respectively.

administrator'.

3. Similarly go to the properties of 'MatrixSimadoSMS.exe' file. Click on

'Compatibility' tab and select option 'Run this program asadministrator'.
