Our encounter with the racing red rhinos had delayed our trip to Rainbow Rock. Luck-ily the rhinos mistook Pam for a collie and let us go on. However, to get to the rock, we had to cross a rickety rope bridge stretched across a canyon a mile deep. I love my job!

Then I heard a whistle. A short fellow in a cowboy hat, linen robe, and flip-flops round-ed the corner. “What are ya doin’ in these

parts?” he said. “Don’t tell me—you’re here to see the rock send out a shimmering rain-bow of colors. Ya know, that fantastic sight is rarely seen on account of its mountainous location.” His words struck me as vaguely fa-miliar. Who was this linen-wearing cowboy?

“Correct,” I told him. “I am Sir Neil—ex-plorer from the University of Bravery and Accomplishment. This is my colleague, Pam.”

__ __ __ __: To rescue someone from danger or from something bad. Jesus came to rescue us from the consequences of sin and life away from God.

__ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __: The act of eating bread to remember how Je-sus’s body was broken for us on the cross and drinking grape juice to remember that Jesus shed His blood for us. It is done as a church community to remember what Jesus did because of His love for us.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever

believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send

his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the

world through him.

A. It was still dark Sunday morning and Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw the stone had been moved. She went running to Peter and John and said, “They took the Lord from the tomb!”

B. Peter and John raced to the tomb. John got there first, but when Peter arrived he went right into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there and the head wrapping folded and set apart.

C. John went in, saw the linen, and believed. (They still did not un-derstand from Scripture that Jesus would rise from the dead.)

D. The disciples went back to where they were staying, but Mary stayed at the tomb. As she wept she looked in the tomb and saw two angels in white seated where Jesus’s body had been. They asked her, “Why are you crying?”

E. “They have taken my Lord’s body!” Then she turned around and Jesus was standing there, but she did not recognize Him.

F. He asked her, “Why are you cry-ing? Who are you looking for?” She thought He was the gardener and said, “If you have taken the body, tell me where so I can bring Him back to the tomb.”

G. Jesus said to her, “Mary.” When He said her name she realized it was Jesus and cried out, “Teach-er!”

H. Jesus said, “Do not cling to me. I am not going to the Father yet. But go and tell my disciples that I will be going to my Father.”

Mary went to the disciples with the good news: “I have seen the Lord!”

The cowboy introduced himself as Randy, a racing red rhino wrangler. “It’s my herd that just greeted ya and yurn dog!” he said. Pam grunt-ed under her breath. “You crossin’ that bridge? I think ya collie is too scared. She’s a shakin’.”

Pam wasn’t scared, of course. She was insulted. She had reached her limit of collie comparisons. Before I could correct the wran-gler, Randy whistled. A big racing red rhino

jumped up. He horn-flipped Pam onto his back, and then went racing across the creaky bridge. Now Pam was scared, of course. And insulted.

I crept onto the bridge before Randy could whistle a rhino again. Halfway across I felt movement. The rhino herd was following me! Twang! Snap! Those were not the sounds of a wrangler whistle. Those were the sounds of bridge ropes breaking.
