Remarks; In recent years a numLer of trade areas have beenundergoing radical changes due to the introduction ofnew technology, consequently manufacturers and serviceorganisations have found the need for their apprenticesand servicemen to receive appropriate training. It wasbecause TAPE had no appropriate courses to offer inthis area that the sublission was made.
The submission (electrical/electrod,c trades) proposeda two-year program in which research and planning tothe initial stage of producing a detailed operativeproposal for imp1ementation is completed in the firstyear followed by a limited trial, evaluation andteacher development ptogram in the second year.
In broad terms the program of work for 1981 comprisedthree stages. The first stage involved collectingfacts, figures and opinions, the second stage involvedanalysing the skills required by competent servicemenand the third stage involved preparing performanceobjectives, learning units, syllabi, lists of teachingaids, teaching times, etc, to enable limited trialsand evaluation to commence in 1982. The work- is nowsufficiently advanced for limited trials and evaluationto commence.
