UPVC PIPES FOR LAND DRAINS

Pipes for slotted land drains I slotted carrier drains shall be uPVC

pipes. Prior to perforation, the basic pipe shall be manufactured to BS

EN 1401 - 1, Kitemarked and shall comply with the requirement of

your contract specification. The slots shall be designed to give at leastthe minimum infiltration rates laid down in BS 5911 : Part 114. The

final configuration of the slots shall be subject to approval by the

engineer.

The slots shall be cleanly machine cut and be not less than 2 mm or

greater than 4 mm in width. The slots shall be in one 180º segment of

the barrel in one or more longitudinal rows, the slots in each row

being spaced equidistantly. Where more than one row of perforations

are provided the slots shall be staggered. No slots shall be nearer to

the ends of the barrel than the spacing between two adjacent slots.

The spacing between slots in any row may vary up to ± 20 mm.

The minimum cross – sectional area of the perforations, at the inside

surface of the pipe barrel, shall be 2700 mm² per meter run of pipe

but shall not affect the structural integrity of the pipe. Care must be

exercised to prevent impact damage when placing stone surround and

during backfilling operations over the pipes.

Set multi blade slotting machine to

centers required by the consultants / government specification



Check the drainage pipes being used

to slot is straight & place it on slottingmachine sliding frame securely to

ensure no movements of the pipe

while slotting.



The moving cradle which has a gear

box each end is then pushed on to theblades using even pressure

throughout the length of the pipe. The

high speed spinning blade will cut into

the pipe evenly to produce a slot.



After slotting each row of slots are

checked for length of slot by using apvc template of appropriate size to

ensure the slots are cut correctly



When two rows of slots are required,

the distance between each row of slotsis marked by using a template.



Check the overall quality of slotted

pipes by Quality AssuranceDepartment and only approved

quantity pipe will be released for

delivery



The pvc dust and saw shaving is

removed by blowing compressed airinternally & externally along the

slotted pipe.
