Small Natural Gas liquefaction plants have attracted a lot of attention as a means of monetizing stranded unconventional Natural Gas reserves. Other poten-tially valuable sources of gas such as anaerobic digestion or land-fill gas have also contributed to the interest in liquefaction. These two areas give rise to a range of liquefaction plants of capacities from 1 – 20 tphr (8,640 – 172,800 tpa). These schemes are particularly attractive where there is no pipeline infrastructure and there is a desire to utilize “green fuel”.
To address this market, TGE delivers a one-stop-shop approach for the provision of the whole chain for monetizing stranded unconventional gas or gas from waste. This chain extends from the gas reception, pre-treatment, liquefaction, storage, loading, transportation and provision of satellite stations at the user end of the “gas-to-market” chain. TGE is a leading contractor in the field of LNG handling import and export terminals providing a turnkey solution for the complete chain.
TGE covers a wide range of design concepts, engineering performance, procurement, construction, commissioning and after sales service for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), or Liquefied Bio Gas (LBG) Plants

Typical Liquefaction Processes Process descriptionAll units are designed in a modular arrangement installed on preassemble skids which are pre-insulated, piped up, with control systems tested ready for easy installation on site. A typical liquefaction process consists of the following steps
1. Pre-Treatment includingn Filtering & compressionn Purification & CO2 removal n Removal of trace impurities, e.g. mercuryn Gas drying
2. Liquefaction of the GasTwo possible liquefaction processes are offered by TGE. The choice depends on plant capacity and raw gas conditions.
Mixed Refrigerant Cyclen Single multi-component major characteristics used
comprising typically nitrogen, methane, ethane, butane and pentane
n High efficiencyn Sensitive to feed gas changesn Complex operationn Moderate turndown capability
Pure Refrigerant expander Cycle n Range of Application: 1 – 15 t/hr LNGn A pure refrigerant ( typically nitrogen ) is pre-cooled,
expanded in a turbine, producing a cold to produce LNG based on the Reverse Brayton Cycle
n Lower efficiencyn Less sensitive to feed gas changesn Can handle wide turndown ratiosn Easy to operaten Single machine concept combining cycle com-
pressor and expander
