The project aims at identifying
the priority actions required to promote the sustainable and integrated use of the coastal and marine resources
in Tunisia
taking into account
local and national stakeholders’ interests and needs,
the socio-economic constraints,
and opportunities of the coast areas, as well as the complex land-sea ecosystem inter-relationships.
Project Objective
The elaboration a participatory and concerted integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) plans of action for the region of Grand Sfax (Tunisia), to be used as a model for the development of a national integrated coastal management plan
The following organizations will assist the project staff and facilitate the
implementation of the project:
• 7 Municipalities of Grand Sfax• Ministry of Interior and local development of Tunisa • Ministry of Environment and sustainable development of Tunisa and all its major
agencies: ANPE, ONAS, APAL and CITET• Ministry of Development and International Cooperation of Tunisa • Ministry of Equipment, habitat and land management of Tunisa, within the Projet

Tunisia is party to the Barcelona Convention and is committed to develop a national strategy for ICZM according to the ICZM Protocol

programs of sectoral development• legal framework, particularly for coastal and marine protected areas• participatory process and concerted decision making process
