Please keep these instructions for later use.

Before Operating

• Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with thecontrols and proper use of the unit.

Do not operate this unit when tired, ill or under theinfluence of alcohol, drugs or medication.

• Children under the age of 15 must not use the unit:teens may operate the unit with adult guidance.

• Inspect the unit before use. Replace damaged parts.Make sure all fasteners are in place and secure.Replace snow thrower parts that are cracked,chipped, or damaged in any way.

Exercise caution to avoid slipping or fal%g.

Thoroughly inspect the area where the snow thrower isto be used. Remove all doormats, sleds, boards, wires,debris, and other foreign objects which may be thrownby the snow thrower.

Make sure the rotor will spin freely before using theunit.

Dress properly. Wear adequate winter outer garments.Wear heavy, long pants, boots, gloves and a long sleeveshirt. Do not wear loose clothing, jeweky, short pants,sandals or go barefoot. Secure hair above shoulder level.

Wear footwear that doesn't leak when operating thesnow thrower and that will improve footing on slipperysurfaces. Wear rubber boots.

Never attempt to make adjustments while the motor is

Let the motor and unit adjust to outdoor temperaturesbefore starting to clear snow.

This snow mover should be grounded while in use toprotect the operator from electric shock. The snowmover is equipped with an approved 3-conductor cordand 3-prong grounding-type plug to fit the propergrounding-type receptacle. The green or green/yellowconductor in the cord is the grounding wire. Neverconnect this wire to a live terminal. If your unit is foruse on less than 150 volts, it has a plug that looks likeA in the figure below. If it is for use on 150 to 250volts, it has a plug that looks like D in the figure.

• A data plate on your unit indicates the voltage used.Never connect the unit to an AC voltage that differsfrom this voltage.

WARNING: To prevent electricshock, use only with

• Inspect all extension cords and the unit powerconnection periodically. Look closely for deterioration,cuts or cracks in the insulation. Also inspect theconnections for damage. Repair or replace the cords ifany defects appear.

When cleaning, inspecting or repairing the unit, makecertain the rotor and all moving parts have stopped.Disconnect the extension cord to prevent accidentalstarting.

• Do not abuse the extension cord. Never carry thesnow thrower by the cord or yank on the cord todisconnect it from the receptacle.

Keep the extension cord away from heat, oil, andsharp edges to prevent damage.

If the extension cord is damaged in any manner whileit is plugged in, pull the extension cord from the wallreceptacle.

Prevent any possible disconnection of the cordreceptacle from the extension cord during operationby using the cord retainer and guide bar. Refer to thesection Using the Cord Retainer.

Avoid accidental starting. Don't carry a pDgged-insnow thrower with your finger on the switch. Be surethe switch is off when plugging in the unit.

Always unplug the unit and allow it to cool beforeputting it into storage. Store indoors.

Always unplug the unit when not in use, and beforeperforming any maintenance or repairs.

WHILE OPERATING

• Walk, never run.

• Be sure the snow thrower is not in contact withanything before starting the unit.

• Stay away from the discharge opening at all times.Keep face, hands, and feet away from concealedmoving or rotating parts.

• Be attentive when using the snow thrower, and stayalert for holes in the terrain and other hidden hazardsor traffic.

• Donotuseonagravelsurfaceorcrushedrocksurfaces.Useextremecautionwhencrossinggravel/crushedrockdrives,walks,or roads.

• Clearsnowfromslopesbygoingupanddown.Nevergoacrosstheslope.Usecautionwhenchangingdirections.Neverdearsnowfromsteepslopes.

Always hold the unit with both hands when operating.Keep a firm grip on handles or grips.

Keep hands, face, and feet at a distance from allmoving parts. Do not touch or try to stop the rotorwhen it is rotating.

• If the rotor will not rotate freely due to frozen ice, thawthe unit thoroughly before attempting to operate itunder power.

• Keep the rotor clear of debris.

• Never attempt to clear the rotor with the motorrunning. Turn the motor off first and unplug theextension cord.

• Keep clothing and body parts away from the rotor.

• Do not operate the motor faster than the speedneeded. Do not run the motor at high speed when not

clearing snow.

• Always stop the motor when clearing snow is delayedor when walking from one location to another.

• Disengage power to the rotor when snow thrower istransported or not in use.

• After striking a foreign obJect, turn the unit off andinspect the snow thrower for damage. Unplug theunit. Repair damage before restarting and operatingthe unit.

• If the unit should start to vibrate abnormally, stop theunit and check immediately for the cause. Vibration isgenerally a warning of trouble.

Stop the motor and unplug the unit whenever youleave the operating position, before unclogging therotor or discharge vanes, and when making anyrepairs, adjustments, or inspections.

• Never discharge snow onto public roads or near

ASSEMBUNG THE HANDLEBARS

Before you can operate the unit, you must adjust thehandHebars.

1. When you unpack the unit, Hoosenthe two knobs onthe inside of the handHebars (Fig. 1).

2. With the unit upright, swing the handHebars up intothe operating position.

NOTE: Take care not to pinch the switch wires when)ositioning the handHebars.

3. Tighten the knobs to secure the handHebars in pHace.

NOTE: Do not over-tighten the knobs.

USING THE CORD RETAINER

To use thecord retainer:

1. FoHdthe extension cord in half, forming a tight loopnear the receptacle.

2. Push the loop through the bottom hole in the retainer(Fig, 2).

3. Slide the loop over the retaining clip and pull downuntil the cord fits snugly (Fig. 2).

NOTE: Use a UL-approved extension cord, A lO0-foot,14-gauge cord is recommended. A 50-foot, 16-gauge cord is acceptable.

Both the cord retainer and guide bar restrain theextension cord and keep it out of the way at all times,safely to the side of the operator.

The extension cord and retainer will slide on the guidebar as the unit is moved to the left and right, Connectyour extension cord to the unit as shown in Figure 3.

STARTING INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: AvoidaccidentaHstarting. Make sure

you are in the starting position when usingthe snow thrower. To avoid serious injury,the operator and unit must be in a staMeposition while starting.

You must follow this sequence correctHy to start the unit.

1. Make sure you have pHugged in the unit.

2. Press in and hoHdthe red starter button (Fig. 4).

1. Release your hand from the bail.

2. The starter button will pop out and the unit will stop.

OVERLOAD PROTECTION SWITCH

This unit is equipped with an ovedoad protection switchto protect the circuit (that the unit is plugged into) fromshort circuit overloads.

If the switch pops out:

1. Release the bail and allow the unit to stop and coolfor a minute.

2. Press the overload switch to reset. Resumeoperation (Fig. 4).

If the switch pops again shortly after the first time:1. Allow the unit to cool for 15 to 30 minutes.

2. After the unit has cooHed, press the ovedoad switchto reset. Resume operation.

If the switch does not stay in, or if it continues to pop outduring operation, take the unit to an authorized servicedealer for repair.

OPERATmNG THE UNmT

1. Start the unit according to the Starting Instructions.The depth and weight of the snow governs theforward speed.

2. Push the unit so that it rides on the wheels and

scraper.

3. Make sure the power cord is attached to the cordretainer and rests on the guide bar. The power cordshould trail to the side of the operator.

Tips for Best Snow Throwing Results

• For the most efficient snow throwing, keep the vanesparallel and throw snow downwind,

SERVmCmNG THE UNmT

Extreme care and knowbdge of the system is requiredwhen servicing this unit. Service should be performed byqualified service personnel only. Replacement parts forthis unit must be identical to the parts they replace. Referany repair to an authorized service deabr.

mNSPECTmNG/REPLACmNG THE DRmVE BELT

When servicing the unit, use only original equipmentmanufacturer replacement parts, inspect the drive beltonce a year or every 50 hours of operation, whichevercomes first, for wear. if the drive belt needs to berephced, use the following instructions.

WARNING: Toavoidseriouspersonal injury, turn

off the unit and allow it to cool Unplug theunit before you perform any maintenance.

1. Remove the flange lock nut from the belt case coverwith a wrench or nut driver (Fig. 9).

2. Remove the seven (7) screws from the belt casecover using a #T20 Torx bit or fiat blade screwdriver(Fig. 9).

WARNING: Toreducetheriskofelectricalshock,

replacethe cover beforeconnectingtheunit to a power source.

3. Puii the belt tensioner (idler arm) away from the drivepulley. Remove the damaged or broken belt from thedriven pulley and drive pulley inside of the housing.Discard appropriately (Fig. 10).

4. Loop the new belt around the drive pulley and drivenpulley (Fig. 10). Puii the belt tensioner (idler arm)away from the drive pulley to instaii the belt aroundthe drive pulley.

NOTE: Make sure the washer is stiii in place on thedriven pulley shaft prior to reinstalling the beltcase cover.

5. Reinstall the cover with the seven (7) screws. Tomake installation easier, place the narrow part of thecover into the recess of the housing. Install the toptwo screws, then push the rest of the cover downinto the recess and over the rotor shaft. Torque allseven (7) screws to 18-23 inolb (2.0-2.5 N,m)o

6. Reinstall the flange lock nut. Torque the nut to80-100 inomb(9.0-11.2 N,m).

NOTE: if the flange lock nut is damaged, do not replaceit with a standard nut. Replace only with anoriginal equipment manufacturer replacementpart.

REPLACING THE SCRAPER

Use only original equipment manufacturer replacementparts.

WARNING: Toavoidseriouspersonal injury,

always turn your unit off and unplug itbefore you perform maintenance.

Place the unit on the ground or on a work bench.Position the unit so the vanes and rotor are facing up.

Beneath the rotor, locate the three (3) screws securingthe scraper to the housing. Remove them using a#T20 Torx bit or fiat blade screwdriver (Fig. 11).

3. Remove the scraper and discard it appropriately.

4. The new scraper wiii snap into place. Once in place,attach it to the unit by reinstalling the three (3)screws.

Torque the screws to:

25-30 inoib (2.84.3 Nora).

before you clean or service it.

Use a small brush to clean off the outside of the unit. Donot use strong detergents. Household cleaners thatcontain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon, andsolvents such as kerosene, can damage plastic housingor handle. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.

TRANSPORTING

, Secure the unit while transporting.

To move the unit, grasp it by the top and middle fronthandles (Fig. 12).

if you are transporting the unit with the handles folded,be careful not to make contact and accidentally bendthe discharge directional control (Fig. 6). if you bend ordamage the control, you can no longer adjust thevanes.

REMARQUE: Utilisez une rdlonge agreee UL. Nousrecommandons un cable de 100 pieds (31 m),calibre 14. Un cable de 50 pieds (15 m), calibre16 est acceptable.

La retenue du cordon et la barre de guidage retiennent lardlonge et la maintiennent toujours en dehors duchemin, en toute securite du cote de I'operateur.

La rdlonge et la retenue se glissent dans la barre deguidage Iorsque I'appareil se deplace vers la gauche etla droite. Raccordez votre rdlonge sur I'appareil commeindique dans [a Figure 3.

INSTRUCTIONS DE DEMARRAGE

AVERTISSEMENT: viterledemarrageaccident& Se tenir en position de demarrage pourlancer Ie moteur. Lors du demarrage, I'operateur etI'outil doivent etre en position d'quilibre afind'eviter le risque de blessures graves.

Vous devez suivre ces etapes dans I'ordre pourdemarrer la machine.

1. Assurez-vous que vous avez raccorde la machine.

2. Appuyez sur le bouton de demarrage rouge etmaintenez-ie enfonce (Fig. 4)

3. Tandis que vous tenez le bouton de demarrage,levez et tenez la poignee de securite.

REMARQUE: La machine NE demarrera PA$ si vous nepoussez pas le bouton de demarrage enfoncejusqu'a ce que vous ieviez ia poignee desecurite.

Si le commutateur se declenche.

1. ReBchez la poignee de securite et laissez I'appareilrefroidir pendant une minute.

2. Appuyez sur le commutateur de surcharge pour lerearmer et reprenez ie travail (Fig. 7).

Si le commutateur se declenche de nouveaujuste apresia premiere lois.

1. Laissez I'appareil refroidir pendant 15 a 30 minutes.

2. Apres cela, appuyez sur le commutateur desurcharge pour le rearmer et reprenez le travail.

Si le commutateur ne reste pas en place et continue desauter, faites reparer I'appareil par un concessionnaireagree.

UTILISATION L'APPAREIL

1. Demarrez I'appareil selon les Instructions dedemarrage. La profondeur et le poids de la neigedeterminent la vitesse de marche avant.

2. Poussez I'appareil de manbre a ce que I'unite rouiesur ie racioir.

3. Assurez-vous que le cordon d'alimentation est bienattache _ala retenue du cordon et repose sur la barrede guidage. II devrait trainer derriere I'operateur

3, Tournez HecontrOHe directionneH de decharge vers Hagauche, Hecentre ou Hadroite, selon la direction verslaquelle vous voulez projeter la neige (Fig, 7),

REEMARQUE : a partir de la position centrale, le contrOledirectionnel de decharge toume d'environ 45degres dans chaque direction (gauche ou droite),Ne forcez pas,

4, Degagez le contrOle directionnel de decharge, de lafente de direction de decharge, afin d'etablir le sensde projection de la neige voulu,

REMARQUE : assurez-vous que le contrOle directionnelde decharge est bien positionne dans la fente dedirection et qu'il ne peut bouger,

5, Redemarrez la machine selon les Instructions de

demarrage,

mNSPECTmON/REMPLACEMENT DE LACOURROmE D'ENTRAJNEMENTPour toute reparation du Snow Buster, utifisez seuDmentdes pieces de rechange fabricant d'origine. Inspectez lacourroie d'entrahement une lois par an ou toutes les 50heures d'utifisation, suivant la premiere echeance, au casou elle serait usee. Si elle doit etre remplacee, suivez Dsinstructions ci-dessous.

1. Enlevez I'ecrou de blocage a embase du carter decourroie a I'aide d'une cle ou d'un tourne-ecrou (Fig, 9).

2. Retirez les sept (7) vis, qui retiennent le couvercle duboitier de la courroie, a I'aide d'un tournevis a lameplate ou d'une meche no, T20 Torx (Fig, 9),

ADVERTENCmA: poorreduire lerisque d'electrocution, remettez lecouvercle avant de raccorder le produitune source d'alimentation.

3. Tirez le tendeur de courroie (bras de renvoi) pourI'ecarter de la poufle motrice, Retirez la courroieendommagee ou cassee des poufies conduite etmotrice qui se trouve a Finterieur du bo_tier. Mettezqaau rebut de maniere responsable (Fig. 10),

4. Mettez en place la nouvelle courroie autour de lapoulie motrice et de la poulie conduite (Fig. 10),Tirez le tendeur de courroie (bras de renvoi) enarriere pour enrouler la courroie autour de la pouliemortice.

REMARQUE : assurez-vous que la rondelle est toujoursen place sur I'arbre de poulie conduite avant dereplacer le couvercle du bo_tier de la courroie.

5. Replacez le couverde a Faide des sept vis. Pourfaciliter Finstdlation, placez la pattie etroite ducouverde darts le renfoncement du bo_tier. Posez lesdeux vis superieures, puis enfoncez le reste ducouverde darts le renfoncement et par dessus Farbredu rotor. Serrez les sept vis avec un couple deserrage de 2,0 a 2,5 N,m (18 a 23 po,lb}o

6. Rephcez Fecrou de blocage a embase, SerrezFecrou avec un couple de serrage de 9,0 a 11,2 N,m(80 a 100 po,lb)o

REMARQUE : si Fecrou de blocage a embase estendommage, ne le remphcez pas par un ecroustandard. Utiflsez uniquement une piece derechange fabricant d'origine.

NETTOYAGE

AVERTmSSEMENT: poureviter desblessures graves, eteignez toujours Happareil

et debranchez Fappareil avant tout nettoyageou entretien.

Nettoyez Vexterieur de Vapparei[ a ['aide d'une petitebrosse. N'utilisez pas de detergents concentres. Lesnettoyants menagers contenant des huiles aromatiquestel que le pin et le citron, et les soDants tel que lekerosene peuvent endommager le bo_tier ou la poigneeen plastique. Essuyez toute trace d'humidite a Haided'un tissu doux.

TRANSPORT

• Attachez bien ['appareH [ors du transport.

• Saisissez la machine par les poignees du haut et dumilieu (Fig. 12).

• Si vous transportez [a machine avec [es poigneespliees, veillez a ne pas toucher ou plieraccidentelDment la commande directionnelle dedecharge (Fig. 6). Si vous pliez ou endommagez lacommande, vous ne pourrez plus regler Ds vannes.
