What does a Software Developer do?

A software developer uses their knowledge of computer science, engineering, and math to develop a variety of software that executes different tasks. They require knowledge of computer programming, computer hardware, and how a computer functions.

There are two types of software developers, those who specialize in engineering applications and systems engineering. Application engineers are responsible for designing and developing applications that we use everyday, such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. System engineers take the responsibility for designing, coordinating, and maintaining computer systems in an organization or business.

There are also engineers that specialize in certain fields such as suggesting upgrades or modifications for companies, selling software products, and research or designing with new ideas.
