Recamunda) Former Valenzuela City Councilor and TV-host Shalani Soledad-Romulo will give the keynote speech in the closing ceremony of the 7th PASUC National Culture and Arts Festival held on December 2, 2015 at the Albay Astrodome, Legazpi City, Albay. Soledad-Romulo will represent her husband Pasig Representative Roman Romulo who is also the Chair of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education at the House of Representatives. In a press conference held at the Bicol University College of Education (BUCE) Training Hall, Soledad-Romulo stressed the importance of the culture and the arts festival. “Tayo bilang Pilipino we choose to carry on the tradition, nagkakaroon tayo ng exchange of ideas just like in PASUC. Halos lahat ng government universities sa buong Pilipinas ay member nitong prestigious organization so it means there are exchange of ideas, practices among schools and definitely the camaraderie na naibibigay from one school to the other. So, just like any other Filipino tradition we would like to carry on that tradition. Region VII (Central Visayas) and Region VI (Western Visayas) are in a tight race with 49 and 46 points respectively clinching the second and third spot. Region II (Cagayan Valley) and XI (Davao Region) ranks 4th and 5th with 38 and 33 points respectively. It can be noted that in last year’s PASUC which was held at Mindanao University of Science and Technology, NCR emerged as the champion followed by Region VI. Region I (Ilocos Region) came in third, while Region V (Bicol Region) and Region IX (Zamboanga Peninsula) ranked fourth and fiſth respectively. events such as these. With the theme, “Transforming the Landscape of Culture and the Arts in the Public Higher Education Institutions,” the festival pooled together at least 2, 500 delegates coming from the 17 regions in the country. (Suzene Cajegas)

Thirty candidates—one pair for each of the 15 participating regions will vie for the Mr. and Ms Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) 2015 title on December 2, 2015 at the Albay Astrodome, Legazpi City, Albay. The coronation night, one of the highlights of this year’s 7th PASUC National Culture and the Arts Festival, will cap off the intercollegiate socio-cultural-artistic competition hosted by the Bicol region. The contest will be divided into four categories: Regional Attire Competition, Swimwear Competition, Barong Tagalog and Terno Competition, and the Question and Answer Portion. In the preliminary round, candidates will be judged based on Beauty (40%), Body Carriage (40%) and ability to answer the Question (20%). In the final round, the top five finalists will be judged on Beauty (50%) and the ability to answer the Final Question (50%). Minor awards will also be given such as the Best in Production Number, Best in Regional Attire, Best in Filipiniana Attire, Mr. and Ms. Photogenic, and Mr. and Ms. Congeniality. Former titleholders, Mr. SCUAA 2015 Leonard Mateos, Ms. PASUC 2014 Kemica Barcelona, Mr. PASUC 2014 Carl Cindrey Espinosa, Ms. PASUC 2012 Miki Sugimoto Santiago, 3rd Runner-Up Mr. SCUAA 2012 Daiel Joshua Dado, and Ms. PASUC 2010 Yvethe Marie Santiago will also grace the event in a grand festival production number together with the candidates.
