Business Needs Info Edge had developed and adapted a lot of applications for streamlining the internal operations. These included Dynamics NAV, Exchange, Linux based applications, and other custom built applications. These applications were hosted at the company’s captive data center in Noida. As intended, these applications enabled Info Edge employees to function with better efficiency and effectivity. But, there was one area that held forth a major concern for Info Edge’s IT team – while they had a well-defined local backup strategy, there was a need of remote data backup along with a recovery site for the internal applications in case of a disaster like event. Considering that the applications that stayed hosted on their data center were mission critical applications, it was important that there is a solid mechanism to do backup and recovery for business continuity. The situation where a single point of failure could result in business continuity disruption was, not the least, ideal. Info Edge’s IT team understood this challenge well enough and they decided to get the acceptable solution in place before a problem presents itself. With this the search for the best disaster recovery solutions for Naukri started. Info Edge was also looking for DR Solution that can help them for their heterogeneous environment. Info Edge wanted a DR site that offers 15 minutes of Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and 1 Hour of Recovery Time Objective (RTO), should be easily deployable and must have the ability to be tested without any impact to the production site. The Info Edge IT team started analyzing various options available in the market, they realized that most of the traditional DR tools & sites have a drawback when compared to cloud based DR Site.
