The slimming industry is a 20 billion dollar industry in America alone with over 108 million people dieting at one time and typically they make 4 or 5 attempts every year. There are literally millions of diets products. Most diets are sold to you on the claim of large weight loss in a fast time, through bars, shakes and starvation.

In Australia obesity is the leading cause of premature death and illness. 14 million Australian's are overweight or obese and more than 5 million have a BMI over 30. A million Australian’s already suffer from diagnosed diabetes, with over 8.2 million prescriptions filled each year. All this in a country of only 22 million people.

In the UK the cost of diabetes to the NHS is over £1.5m an hour or 10% of the NHS budget for England and Wales. This equates to over £25,000 being spent on diabetes every minute. In total, an estimated £14 billion pounds is spent a year on treating diabetes and its complications, with the cost of treating other complications representing an even higher cost.

Illness and obesity, here are some of the facts.....

Diabetes - Obesity is a major cause of diabetes, in particular type 2 diabetes, being overweight your risk of getting diabetes is 7 times higher.

Depression - With obesity you have a 65% greater chance of depression. Low self esteem is often a side effect of being overweight.

Blood Pressure - Obesity is one major cause of high blood pressure. It is the primary cause of death in the US and about 75 million suffer from high blood pressure. Did you know that losing as little as 8 pounds or 3.5 kilos can substantially reduce your blood pressure.

Heart Disease - Obesity is a major risk to heart disease causing strokes, heart attacks and death.

Cancer - In women obesity has been linked to ovarian, uterine, kidney and bowel cancer.

Hormones - Obesity upsets both male and female hormones causing numerous hormonal disorders.

Infertility - Obesity is a contributing factor to infertility and can result in ovarian failure in women and lower sperm count and reduced motility in men.

Urinary Incontinence - Excess weigh can cause bladder leaking and incontinence.

Dementia - Obesity increases your chances of dementia.

Joints - Obesity greatly increases joint problems and in particular back pain.

Bones - Being overweight raises the risk of developing osteoporosis, arthritis, and osteoarthritis.

Cholesterol - Obesity increases your cholesterol and high cholesterol is one of the leading causes of heart attacks. Having high LD (low –density lipoprotein) levels raises your risk of having heart disease by 20 percent.

Cancers - A study found that being overweight increased your chance of cancer by 50% for both men and women.

Ulcers - Obesity can be a contributing factor to the development of gastric ulcers. Overweight men are at a greater risk of developing gastric ulcers than women.

Gallstones — Being severely overweight increases the risk of developing gallstones (Cholelithiasis), especially in women.

Lymphedema - obesity can cause is a condition of localized fluid retention (lymphedema) caused by a compromised lymphatic system. Danger lies in the constant risk of developing an uncontrolled infection in the affected limb.

This above list is not all the problems caused by being overweight just some of the main issues.

As an aside....Did you know that, "Apple shape” people whose weight is concentrated around their stomachs may be at greater risk of developing heart disease, diabetes or cancer than people of the same weight who are "pear-shaped" (they carry their weight in their hips and buttocks).

However any woman that has a waist measurement over 80 cm is at risk and any man with a waist measurement over 90 cm is at risk.

The Question?Are you going to become, or already are one of the statistics above?

The problemYou know most of the health issues related to being overweight. A lot of people who are overweight do truly know they are overweight or obese, however they often hide behind the facade “I am happy as I am”. They know the need to lose weight, but they don’t or still can’t shed the kilos.

Why, because diets per se do not work. With diets you can lose weight initially but statistically you will then regain it soon afterwards with an average of an extra 5% - 10% weight gain on top!!.

So what does work?A lifestyle change where your mind and your body are working together for the same goal. A happier, healthier you. Where the pounds and kilos are shed, but where because your mind and body are congruent then the weight stays away naturally.

The solutionYou do have all the resources and abilities within you to change your lifestyle, change your shape, reduce your disease and live a longer life. You may just need guidance. You may require the knowledge to know what are the simplest ,easiest and most effective ways, in the shortest possible time to achieve your new you. Maybe a buddy or coach to keep you motivated and inspired. Lastly you need your mind and body cooperation, working together, eliminating the hard and letting that weight fall off you.

You see most clients, when we talk of change with them, immediately feel a sense of anxiety and hardship. However if you can get your mind on board first you will find that your body just follows naturally taking all the hard out of hardship.

To achieve success in weight loss as in life, it is a matter of choosing the path of least resistance, imagine a beautiful shinny slide to your goal. When we gain the cooperation of our mind and body we create our own slippery shiny slide.

Shedding the pounds or kilos is not about forcing it off, it is about letting it fall off. When we force anything it causes resistance and a force backwards. With most diets it is a Force off, they force you to starve, be deprived, sweat, hurt and feel guilty. This is neither a practical nor an effective way to reduce weight in fact it is totally counterproductive.
