• Sorin Mihai Popa is a graduate of the Finance Accounting Faculty from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.

• He holds International Management Diploma issued by the Institute of Business Management from the Ecole Supérieure de Gestion - Toulouse, France.

• Becoming employee of Societe Generale - Bucharest branch in 1993, Sorin Mihai Popa successively occupied the position of General Controller and then Executive Director of the branch in 1996-1999.

• Thereafter he was appointed Director of the Network of BRD - Groupe Societe Generale, until 2003 when it took over the position of Deputy General Manager and was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of BRD.

• On 18 April 2007, Sorin Mihai Popa was re-elected Director of BRD for a term of 4 years.
