This brochure is your introduction to SOUTHBOUND. If you have not registered for New Student Orientation, please visit www.southalabama.edu/orientation for instructions on how to register. A detailed schedule will be posted online prior to orientation.

To help you adjust to the University, we have planned Southbound Orientation! Southbound Orientation is USA’s summer orientation program for incoming transfer, second degree, and adult freshman students (students who graduated high school at least 5 years prior to the semester of entry or have reached the age of 23). All new students must attend one of the summer orientation sessions. For more information, please visit www.southalabama.edu/orientation.

What will I do at Southbound Orientation?
Orientation will be presented in a hybrid formation this summer. During orientation you will:
Receive academic advising Register for classes Purchase your textbooks and supplies Learn about University services and activities Receive your student ID
When will I register for my classes? One of the key components of Southbound Orientation is the fall semester class registration process. The process includes meeting with the academic advisors in your area of study. It is NOT possible to register for classes before your Southbound Orientation session date.
Can I bring guests to orientation? Due to space limitations, only new, incoming students may attend transfer and adult freshman sessions.

When is my Southbound Orientation? There will be three Transfer/Adult Freshman/ Second Degree Orientation sessions to select from. These will take place online during June and July. Additionally, students will attend an on-campus orientation in August when the University deems it safe do so.
You will receive an email the day before your orientation session with instructions for the online portion of your session.
Students must complete all required components of the online session and meet with an advisor in order to register for courses.

How do I register for orientation? Registering for Transfer Orientation at the University of South Alabama is easy. Just visit www.southalabama.edu/orientation and follow the steps below:
As soon as we receive and process your online orientation registration and payment, you will be sent a confirmation via email. A detailed Orientation program will be posted on our orientation website for review.

1. Select Transfer, then Fall Semester 2. Click the registration link and follow the registration
instructions. 3. Log in to the portal using the personal email address and
password used when you completed the online application via the University of South Alabama website. If you submitted a paper application or applied via Common Application, create an account using the email address provided on your application for admission.
4. Complete the orientation application.5. Submit your payment. 6. Look for a confirmation via email.

ORIENTATION FEES & CANCELLATION | STUDENT ID | 2020
When will I recieve my student ID card?
You will receive your student ID during your orientation. Prior to your orientation you will need to submit a photo of yourself to the following link:

Please follow the specifcations and instructions provided on the website explaining how to upload your photo. If you are having trouble submitting a photoprior to your orientation, please contact Student Center Services for assistance at 251-460-6452 or [email protected].
What is my Southbound Orientation fee?
Student Orientation Fee: $100 per student This non-refundable fee covers the cost of the orientation program which includes: remote and on-campus accommodations, orientation materials, and processing fees.
What if my plans change? We understand that there may be circumstances which would cause a cancellation of your scheduled orientation. Please check your summer plans before you sign up for Southbound Orientation. Session changes will not be permitted.
In the event you need to cancel your registration and would like to be considered for a refund, please submit your written notice of cancellation for Southbound Orientation prior to your scheduled session. Calling any other office on campus (including Admissions or Housing) will not cancel or change your Southbound Orientation registration.
There will be NO refund of your fee if you attend an orientation and decide not to attend the University of South Alabama for any reason. No refund requests will be considered after May 29.

Have I done everything? Air Travel
Make sure the USA O�ce of Admissions has all o�cial documents including transcripts, test scores, and any college credits earned through dual enrollment, AP courses, IB courses, or while attending another institution.
Register for your Transfer Orientation session by visiting www.southalabama.edu/orientation and choose Transfer then select Fall Semester.
Complete an online training for Title IX. You should receive an email to your JagMail with instructions on how to access and complete the training.
Each new student accepted for admission must submit, prior to registration, immunization information and records through the Student Health Web Portal. Visit www.southalabama.edu/departments/studenthealth/immun-ization for more detailed instructions.
You must complete a brief on-line alcohol prevention program prior to your orientation session.

Flights are available into Mobile, Alabama. The most accessible connection is through the Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), approximately fve miles west of the campus. Other nearby airports are in Pensacola, Florida (PNS) and Biloxi/Gulfport, Mississippi (GPT). The university does not provide a shuttle service to or from the airport.
