.2 Include complete technical information, and detailed dimensional drawings showing required clearances and minimum distances from end of rail to hook.

.3 Shop drawings to be signed and sealed by a qualified structural engineer currently registered and in good standing with the professional engineers in the Province of British Columbia (APEGBC).

2 PRODUCTS

2.1 Monorail

.1 Monorail shall be of standard structural steel sections to G40.21–44W. Fabricate and mount as detailed on the structural drawings.

.2 Monorail deflection shall not exceed 1/600 of the span.

.3 Mounted on the monorail shall be a trolley and hoist.

2.2 Trolley

.1 The motorized trolley shall be equipped for festooned travel. Length of travel shall be approximately 12.5 m.

.2 The wheels shall be suitable for operating on S250 x 52 monorail (confirm with structural drawings).

.3 Hardened tread wheels with anti-friction bearing shall be provided.

.4 The trolley shall be motor-driven through a suitable gear reducer. An electric brake shall be furnished on this drive. The drive shall be shock free on starting and stopping.

.5 The trolley frame shall be welded or cast steel construction. It shall be of rigid construction designed to transmit the imposed load to the bridge girder without undue deflection.

.6 Safety lugs shall be furnished on each trolley.

2.3 Electric Hoist

.1 Supply and install one only electric hoist with a minimum capacity of 7.5 tonnes.

.2 The electric hoist and motorized trolley shall meet all the requirements of CSA B1967 CMAA Specification No. 70 Class A duty and maximum rated load, with sufficient travel at least 10 metres below the hoist

.3 The hoist shall be mounted on the trolley. It shall consist of a motor, gear reducer, hoist drum, sheaves, load block, hook, and hoisting rope. An electric brake and mechanical load brake shall be supplied on the hoist.

.4 The motor shall be designed specifically for hoisting duty. The electric brake shall be of suitable size to promptly stop the motor rotation in either direction, and hold the load.

.5 The mechanical load brake shall be of the friction disc type and be capable of holding and controlling the lowering speed of the load under all conditions. The brake shall be fully enclosed and not require lubrication.

.6 Precision cut, full depth teeth, heat treated forged steel gears shall be used in the gear reducer. These gears shall be provided with oil bath lubrication and enclosed in a drip proof case.

.7 The hoist drum and sheaves shall be of large diameter to permit maximum rope life. The drum diameter shall be at least 20 times the rope diameter and shall be grooved to provide for the entire lift without overlapping the rope. The drum flanges shall be guarded so that the rope cannot wedge between the drum and the hoist frame.

.8 A paddle or weight-operated type upper final limit switch shall be provided to protect against hoisting beyond safe limits of travel. This switch shall be connected to open a main line contactor. The switch system must be designed in such a manner that the switch operator mechanism cannot be over traveled and allow the switch to become inoperative.

.9 A loading limit control device shall be provided to prevent over stressing the system. This device shall de-energize the hoist motor and immobilize the upcircuit when an over capacity lift is attempted. This switch must be set to overcome dynamic loading conditions but not exceed 125% rated capacity.

.10 Geared upper and lower limit switches shall be furnished to restrict motion beyond the normal operating travel. These switch contacts shall be connected in the respective motor control circuits.

.11 The hoisting rope shall be improved plow steel, of suitable diameter, with a factor of safety of at least five. Connection to the drum shall be made adequately and shall be easily detachable for replacement.

.12 The load block shall be of the enclosed type and equipped with a swivel type safety latch hook. The integral hoist shall be equipped with automatic overload protection feature.

.13 Sufficient rope shall be provided to permit the eye of the hook to travel at least 10 metres below the hoist.

.14 Bearings shall be factory grease packed with sufficient reservoir to eliminate the need for field servicing.

2.4 Motors

.1 All motors shall be totally enclosed, non-ventilated induction type and equipped with motor thermostats to provide both running and overcurrent protection.

.2 They shall be 575 volts, 3 phase, 60 Hz, and rated for 30 min continuous operation under full load.

2.5 Control Station

.1 A pendant type push-button station shall be provided to control the motions of the trolley and hoist.

.2 The push-button station shall be suspended on a chain or cable, from a track mounted on the monorail, to a position 1.2m. above the operating floor level from the bottom of the station. It shall be possible to move the station along the monorail support independent of the trolley.

.3 The push-button enclosure shall be of lightweight construction in accordance with vendor’s standard and a cover with button guards.

.4 Forward and reverse motor contactors must be interlocked mechanically and electrically to prevent motor damage if the operator pushes the direction buttons simultaneously.

2.6 Travel Limit Switches

.1 Limit switches shall be provided on the monorail and trolley and wired into the respective control circuits to stop the driving motors at the extremes of travel.

2.7 Current Conductors

.1 A multi-conductor, flat, neoprene insulated, festooned flexible cable shall be provided along the monorail to supply electric power to the hoist and trolley. Three of these conductors will be used to supply electric power. The remaining conductor will be used for equipment grounding. The cable shall be connected to a terminating box at one end of the monorail.

2.8 Painting

.1 All fabricated hoist and trolley components shall be sand blasted and factory coated with one coat of rustoleum primer and two coats of machinery enamel (International Paints B256 – extra caution orange). Two litres of touch up enamel shall be supplied with the equipment.

.2 Capacities shall be clearly indicated on hoists, trolley and monorail.

3 EXECUTION

3.1 Monorail

.1 Monorail beam operating surfaces shall be straight, parallel, and level at the same elevation.

.2 Welding shall be completed by certified welders and in accordance with applicable standards. All welds shall be ductile, have good penetration free of cracks and undercuts and shall manifest workmanlike appearance.

3.2 Trolley and Hoist

.1 Erection shall be in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and stamped shop drawings

1 GENERAL

1.1 Description

.1 This section specifies the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of horizontal, end suction, frame mounted, centrifugal pumps and motors for pumping hot and chilled water.

.2 Provide pumps complete with electric motor, baseplate and all specified appurtenances.

.3 Provide pumps and electric motors designed for fixed speed operation or variable speed operation as specified.

.4 Conform to the general requirements of Section 15010, unless otherwise specified.

1.5 Submittals for Information Only

.2 Part list complete with list of recommended spare parts.

1.6 Unit Responsibility

.1 Assign unit responsibility, in accordance with Section 15010, to the horizontal centrifugal pump manufacturer for installing the pump components which includes the pump, motor and all specified appurtenances.

2 PRODUCTS

.3 Condition A is the rated, continuous-duty operating condition; guarantee performance at condition A in accordance with tolerances set forth in the Test Standards of the Hydraulic Institute, except that any increase in head or capacity or both which results in a power requirement greater than the pump motor's nameplate rating will be cause for rejection.

.4 Condition B indicates operating conditions when the pump is operating against minimum anticipated system head, assuming a hypothetical head-capacity curve.

.5 Condition C indicates operating conditions when the pump is operating against maximum anticipated system head, assuming a hypothetical head-capacity curve.

.6 Total head in the above tabulation is the algebraic difference between the total discharge head and total suction head as defined in the standards of the Hydraulic Institute; net positive suction head available (NPSHA) in the above tables is referenced to the project elevation (PE) of 4.50 m and is calculated in accordance with Hydraulic Institute standards for the worst combination of fluid temperature and barometric pressure.

.7 Total head in the above tabulation includes velocity head, but is exclusive of pump inlet and discharge headlosses.

.8 Provide pumps which operate without cavitation; provide motor and pump combination which operates without vibration over the specified range of conditions.

.9 Pump head capacity curve to slope in one continuous curve with no point of reverse slope inflection.

.10 Design all pump components to safely withstand forces resulting from flow reversal up to 125 percent of maximum speed within the pump during shutdowns caused by power failure.

.11 Provide non-overloading pumps at any point on the pump operating curve.

.12 Anchor bolts to conform to the requirements of Section 05400 & 05500.

.1 Construct pump casing of one piece casting, single stage with integral suction and discharge nozzles; provide venting petcock at high point of volute.

.2 Provide tapped gauge openings on suction and discharge nozzles on flanged connection.

.3 Test casing for 1200 kPa working pressure.

.4 Provide venting petcock at high point of volute.

.3 Wearing Rings

.1 Provide rear and front wearing ring for casing, attached by screwed fasteners.

.4 Base

.1 Provide motor mounting blocks such that one size greater motor frame may be accommodated by replacing the mounting blocks.

.2 Provide jacking screws both at the motor and pump end to facilitate alignment.

.3 Mount pumps, along with associated drive appurtenances, on common fabricated steel channel type base with drip rim.

.5 Impeller

.1 Provide impeller both statically and dynamically balanced.

.2 Provide enclosed, single suction or double suction type impeller trimmed to meet specified conditions.

.3 Secure impeller to shaft with bolt and lockwasher.

.4 To accommodate higher capacities, provide pump with an impeller which is less than 85 percent of the volute cutwater diameter.

.6 Shaft

.1 Pump shaft to be suitably stress relieved and turned to final dimensions.

.2 Design shaft such that the dynamic deflection does not exceed 0.05 mm at the operating conditions for the given pump.

.3 Calculate bearing loads based on the maximum hydraulic thrust encountered through the full operating range of the pump in the process fluid as well as any mechanical loading as applied by shaft weight.

.7 Bearings

.1 Provide bearings with a B-10 life of 50,000 hours.

.2 Provide permanently lubricated ball bearing frame and bearing assembly which is completely removable without disturbing pipe connection or volute case.

.3 Bearing assembly to be either of the following:

.1 Permanently lubricated and sealed rubber cushioned ball bearings similar to Fafnir super quiet "O" series; mounted in heavy-duty gray iron frame.

.2 Bronze sleeve type bearings; oil lubricated with oil level indicator for motors up to 5 hp.

.8 Seal

.1 Provide mechanical seals in accordance with Section 15010.

.2 Provide seals rated for continuous service at 120�C.

.3 Provide for seal or flush water connection from an external source.

.9 Couplings

.1 Provide flexible heavy-duty type couplings suitable for start-stop operation and to permit angular misalignment without transmitting backlash.

.2 Provide couplings with sufficient gap between the pump and motor shafts to allow complete withdrawal and removal of the pump backhead frame and impeller without disturbing the motor when the coupling is removed.

.3 Provide pump with safety approved removable expanded metal stop guard, primed and painted "warning" yellow in accordance with Section 15010.

.10 Motor and Drive Unit

.1 Electric motors are specified in Section 16009.

.2 Unless otherwise noted, motors as supplied by the motor manufacturer, are energy efficient, low noise electric motors, 575/3/60 VAC, TEFC, 1800 r/min. or 1200 r/min. as specified.

.3 Provide variable frequency drives (VFD) and controllers for each of the centrifugal pumps where specified in accordance with requirements in Section 16008

.4 Standard VFD output frequency to be adjustable from 0 to 70 Hz.

2.6 Vibration and Critical Speed

.1 Ensure that unfiltered RMS readings for vibration velocity do not exceed 30 �m/s or peak to peak displacement does not exceed 65.0 �m, whichever is lower.

.2 Take vibration measurements on one point of each bearing housing.

.3 Critical speed to be at least 20 percent above maximum operating speed.

2.7 Protective Coatings

.1 Coatings to be in accordance with Section 09900.

.2 Shop prime all equipment.

.3 Preparation and primer to be compatible with the coatings specified in Section 09900.

2.8 Spare Parts

.1 Provide the following spare parts for each size pump in accordance with Section 01605:

.1 1 - set of all bearing assemblies

.2 1 - shaft sleeve

.3 1 - set of all pump gaskets

.4 1 - set of mechanical seals

3 EXECUTION

3.1 Installation

.1 Install and initiate operation of each horizontal centrifugal pump and all components in accordance with the manufacturer's written instructions.

.2 Align and adjust, as recommended by manufacturer, the pump coupling or expansion joint after pump and piping are installed.

.3 Provide the services of a qualified technical manufacturer's representative for a minimum of one trip of one day duration to provide instruction on installation equipment and one trip of one day duration to witness installation.

3.2 Testing

.1 After installation, test each horizontal centrifugal to demonstrate compliance with operating requirements as specified in Section 15950.

.2 Provide the services of a qualified technical manufacturer's representative for a minimum of one trip of one day duration to witness testing.

3.3 Commissioning

.1 Commission pumping units in accordance with Section 15995.

1 GENERAL

1.1 Description

.1 The work of this section includes the installation of all engine and boiler exhaust duct and stack systems and related equipment to be installed in the Energy Centre.

.2 Work covered under this section connects with work not included in this section

.3 Work covered under this section will be as per the drawings listed on Drawing No. 162137 – A – 001, TITLE SHEET AND DRAWING LIST. The contractor is responsible to refer to the contract documents and drawings for related work.

1.2 Work Included

.1 The work of this section includes but is not limited to the items generally described following:

.1 Supply and installation of 5 flue gas exhaust ducting and stack systems that are carrying exhaust gases from the 3 natural gas fired boilers, the natural gas fired emergency generator and from the vapour exhaust unit all located in the Energy Centre including all associated support systems as detailed on the drawings..

.2 Supply and installation of miscellaneous station piping, valves and related equipment as shown on the drawings.

.3 Supply and installation of Natural Gas Piping systems as detailed on the drawings..

.4 Supply and installation of all other mechanical items, equipment and components included in the drawings required or necessary to provide a complete working installation.

.5 Testing and commissioning of all work related to the supply and installation of the flue gas exhaust ducts and stacks as per the applicable standards. Testing and commissioning to be in co-ordination with other related work.

1.3 Materials and Standards

.1 The materials and standards for the supply, fabrication and erection of the work covered under this section are noted on drawing 1621178 – S – 033.
