SummaryEvery country in Southern Africa with reported COVID19 cases has taken certain restrictive measures to curb the spread of the pandemicSouth Africa has a unique epidemic trajectory attributable to early action including lockdown, hotspot identification and early and targeted community level intervention
What we need to ensureThat we to stay ahead of the spread of the COVID-19 and not wait for patients to come to the hospitalOn-going house to house screening and testing by CHW’s in vulnerable communitiesWe need to continue and intensify surveillance (daily/weekly) and contact tracing
What we need to prepare for in anticipation of an acceleration of transmissionPrepare field hospitals for triage ( as seen in the US)Prepare the staff (ICU and hospital staff)Procure ventilators, PPE, makeshift ICU
