Spanish Verbs 101What is a verb?

The part of speech/sentence that is an action word; something that’s taking

place. Usually in English, verbs end with –ingBut, we will be learning present tense verbs that mean “to do” something.

Such as to run, to eat.

Let’s review pronouns!• Pronouns are words that you can use in place

of a noun. For example: I, he, she, you, we, they

• John ran. He ran• Julia and I studied. We studied. • These are going to be very important when

learning verbs in Spanish!

Infinitives

• The verb infinitive is the most basic form of a verb. The definition is to+verb=infinitive.

In Spanish, there are 3 types of verbs: These are the AR, ER, and IR verbs, meaning that these verbs will have one of those endings.

Some examples are: hablar, beber, vivir Activity 1: AR Verb Infinitives

• Choose an article on http://www.cnn.com/espanol/ and identify all of the verb infinitives. On a Word Document, list all AR, ER, and IR verbs. Write the total number of verbs you found.

• At the top of the assignment, write Verb Infinitives, and the name of the article. Copy and paste the link of the article.
