The Suryadatta family has blossomed into a bouquet of academic institutions in various disciplines. Suryadatta has

students from many countries and from all parts of India pursuing their education in different streams at various

Suryadatta Institutions. Each Institute of the Group is strategically located in the heart of the city and has a

dedicated campus providing enlightening and inspiring, academic ambience. Each Institute is spearheaded by well

qualified, experienced and dedicated Directors / Principals. The faculty is a rich Academic-Industry mix, many

having International exposure.

Suryadatta Group of Institutes has always tried to gauge new possibilities in the ever evolving education sector. One

of the flagship institutes of Suryadatta Education Foundation’s Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology. The

world of fashion, as a new frontier of creative job opportunities is evolving rapidly in India. Remaining true to our

spirit of providing students with newer options to discover more possibilities in their career, we offer Degree courses

affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. In addition, we offer Diploma and Short Duration Courses in the field of

Fashion Designing.

We, Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology, present a very innovative and one of its kind Annual Exhibition

every year by the name of ‘Spark’. This year, students of the Fashion Design Degree Program will be showcasing

their creativity by designing and developing the products under the theme ‘Swadesh to Videsh’. Our students

have worked hard to create a range of unique products to portray the myriad ways in which Khadi fabric has evolved

over the times. Also this year being the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the great propagator of the

Khadi fabric, we feel privileged to inaugurate and promote the Pride of Nation - Khadi fabric through the ‘Spark

Exhibition ’, on Saturday 8th February 2020 at 5:00 pm.

This profile has been created to offer you glimpses of our previous exhibitions and other related details. It is my

sincere hope & request like past years you will be an esteemed part of this year’s annual exhibition & extend full

Dear Patron,

Suryadatta Education Foundation’s, Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT) is proud to announce

‘Spark Exhibition ’. For the present year, Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT) in its effort to

contribute towards Nation building, promoting Indian culture and also taking Khadi to global platform has

decided to represent ‘Swadesh to Videsh ’ through our annual exhibition.

Khadi fabric from the Swadeshi movement has always been thought of as the white spotless fabric, but it has so

much more to its existence. One of the most iconic images of Mahatma Gandhiji is that of our beloved Bapu

sitting beside the charkha fully immersed in spinning. Over a period of time, Khadi has come to be identified

with National pride and a fashion statement. Our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has given the mantra

‘Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion’. When we purchase Khadi, we are brightening the lives of lakhs of weavers

who toiled day and night.

I fervently hope that you will encourage us in this noble endeavor by participating whole heartedly in the event.

Why KHADI?

An iconic movement that

touched the lives of every Indian

was the Swadeshi movement. An

initiative has been taken of to

promote hand-spun and hand

woven textiles produced on our

very own soil with an aim to

revive the Khadi fabric across

the country as well as globally.

Khadi, the simple yet glamorous

fabric is the choice of several top

fashion designers. Khadi is

presently known for its beautiful

colors and comfort. It is a

timeless piece of fashion

industry and its appeal in the

fashion industry has become

two-fold.



On one hand, brands like Fab India are promoting it among foreigners and on the other, several Indian

designers are creating an entire wedding trousseau with embroidered Khadi lehengas. Mainstream

fashion industry has accepted Khadi, making it a new fashion trend. Khadi fabric is a comfortable,

eco-friendly, elegant, versatile and easily adaptable among the fashion designers.

Khadi products like shawls, scarves, kurtas and trousers, are also sold in the international market.

The fabric combines simplicity and style. Also, in this generation where people crave for elegance and

comfort; Khadi is the right choice.

Gandhiji’s vision of recreating the process of hand weaving to retain the humble status of Khadi has

gained National importance as well as worldwide appreciation. There is huge demand of it in

international market, especially in western countries.

The sophisticated fabric with a simplistic appeal has been renowned globally not just for its heritage

but also because of its fashion appeal. The rise of the fabric as high-quality materials in the handloom

industry has added to its global demand. Through this Exhibition of Khadi Articles we aim to promote

the use of Khadi Fabric and also create awareness about the benefits of it. Hence our tagline from

‘Swadesh to Videsh’, we want to create a demand for Khadi in the International markets too.

SiFT

Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology aims at imparting knowledge and practical exposure in the key areas of Fashion in their curriculum of 3 years. Students of SIFT arrange an exhibit of innovative and creative products developed under a theme. This year 1000 variety of products made from the Swadeshi

thfabric 'KHADI' will be displayed, with a motive of keeping the spirit high during the 150 Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi- Father of our Nation.Khadi being a handspun as well as hand woven fabric, the students have hand crafted a vast range of articles never seen before for display and sale.

About Spark 2019

The product range comprises of different categories like office stationary, women essentials, home furnishing, accessories, baby products, garments, care decor and many other functional and decorative handcrafted items. All these products aim at promotion the use of Khadi and taking it from 'Swadesh to Videsh'. We propose to earmark young fashion designers to make Khadi merchandise more competitive and appealing.
