Cultivating teachers’ competence,
welfare and professional develop-
ment is one of the many features that
Project UGMAD is focusing with.
This project was presented during the
launching held on March 29 2016 to
520 teachers in attendance.
Project UGMAD is a division-wide
managed project that will address the
needs of the teachers in the field par-
ticularly those who are in need of
technical assistance and supervision.
“Our teachers are the primary pro-
viders of basic knowledge, skills, and
desirable values to our clientele and
therefore, it is just imperative to help
them,” Dr. Gregoria T. Su, Schools
Division Superintendent emphasized
in her message.
Series of trainings and workshops
on pedagogical approaches, innova-
tiveness and the integration of ICT
will be provided and will be managed
by the Curriculum and Implementa-
tion Division (CID) and will be moni-
tored by the School Governance and
Operation Division (SGOD) of this
division.
Among the baby programs which
are in line with UGMAD are the Pro-
gram SHINE (Shaping and Harness-
ing Innovativeness of New Educators)
and ILOVSIM or Improve Learning
Outcome Via Strategic Intervention
Materials .
SHINE will help teachers specially
the newly-hired on varied teaching
strategies and pedagogies and boost
their innovativeness for them to ad-
dress the demand of 21st century
learning.
While SHINE is on strategies and
pedagogies, ILOVSIM will guide
teachers how to develop innovative
materials that will address the least-
learned competencies in all subject
areas. This will be done through sem-
inar and workshop on instructional
materials for the K-12 Curriculum.
UGMAD covers four phases.
These are; Analysis of data (needs
assessment), Design (project concep-
tualization), Implementation (Activities
to be provided), Evaluate (Monitoring
using M&E tool) and Feedback
(Reflective Journaling from teachers).
In order to realize the implementa-
tion phase, project UGMAD requires
budgetary allocation of P 630,000.00
to shoulder training and workshop
expenses. (GBEspadero)
TANDAG CITY - Hon. City Mayor
Roxanne C. Pimentel confirms her
support to the implementation and
realization of the objectives of project
UGMAD considering that education is
one of the seven pillars of her admin-
istration.
“I am for sure in favor for the imple-
mentation of this project knowing how
our teachers in field face difficulty in
dealing with diverse learners.” said
Pimentel.
In her three-year term as mayor, Pi-
mentel received various awards and
recognition from national, regional and
provincial levels. She was recognized
of her quick and effective response to
the “Food Poisoning” or the “Durian
Candy Havoc” last July 2015 where in
hundreds of school children were the
direct victims of the said incident.
Another recognition that was attributed
also to her leadership was the conduct
of the national immunization program
for Grades 1 and 7 learners in which
she personally managed and moni-
tored the conduct of the said event.

February 25, 2013 unfolded the book for ed-ucators in Tandag City. The approval of the es-tablishment of the City Schools Division Office signed by the Honorable Secretary of the Department of Education, Bro. Armin A. Luistro was the first chapter written in the book.
As we scan the pages, we could see how Tandag City Division transformed from a fetus to a baby. The hiring of employees under the Rationalization Plan in May 2015 was the beginning of infancy and that crawling was part of growing up.
To overcome the challenges behind limited resources was indeed part of the greatest limelight for DepEd Tandag City. The separation of plantilla position from the mother division clearly manifested the initiative of a true leader.
Who could have thought that in less than two years of independence, a state of the art architectural and engineering division office design will be crafted. This was made possible thru the leadership of Dr. Gregoria T. Su, whose passion for reaching beyond targets is incomparable.
Of course, everything happens for a reason. The indefatigable support of the City Government of Tandag eventually added to all of these milestone.
According to Harvey Mackay, a great accomplishment shouldn’t be the end of the road, just the starting point for the next leap forward.
Since our guiding philosophy is to teach minds, touch hearts and transform the lives of Tandaganons, all targets are in place in the book of DEDP.
This metamorphosis of Tandag City Division is written with an ink of perse-verance, commitment and passion where nobody could erase but instead lingers in everyone’s heart and will continue to serve as an inspiration among Tandaganons.

QUALITY & RELEVANCE
MANAGEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
A state of the art architectural design of DepEd Tandag City Division Office Building, is a testament to the efficacy of parallel and perpendicular lines in achiev-ing a visual spectacle. There is humble elegance to the lines in both the exterior and interior of the building, from windows, stair railings, and defined door linings. The high ceiling and energy-efficient interiors encourage a feeling of merriment and liberty, and allow for ade-quate lighting and ventilation.
This two-storey office structure will have an ambi-ance of natural lighting and will be erected on a donat-ed lot from the City Government of Tandag with an area of 1, 388 square meters. The building will cover a total floor area of 526 square meters. Architect Christo-pher Ian D. Echano of FifthDesyn Architecture and Construction completed the project in March 22, 2016.
This could be a remarkable accomplishment for Tandag City especially in the academe family.
Since its creation as the 12th division of Caraga Region, DepEd Tandag City remains to be an infant division of its mother division, the Surigao del Sur Division.
As an infant division, it wasn't easy to reach this far, considering the limited resources that the division has. A lot of challenges hinders along the way just to scope this epitome of success, and finally the possibil-ity of having our own office to dwell with.
This edifice will serve as a second home to people who transport the basic services in the realm of education.
Thrilled, excited and amazed were just few of the samples of the famous emoji that could be seen
during the virtual tour of this proposed building in a 3D presentation held
last March 29, 2016.
The journey maybe too long for our bursting-with-
excitement hearts, but we are pretty sure that the destination
will be worth it.
A paradox of tedium will remain in vain.

Various banner projects
from the 28 elementary and
secondary schools in the divi-
sion were presented during the
launching of Project UGMAD
on March 29, this year.
School Heads took turn in
presenting their respective
projects by emphasizing the
different phases of the imple-
mentation, its rationale and
objectives, project cost, period
covered, and the people in-
volved in this whole activity.
These projects were an-
chored on the division banner
project of DepEd Tandag City
and on the most pressing con-
cern of each school.
Every presentation was
concluded with a creative per-
formance of teachers based
on the concept of their school
banner project.
Reading comprehension of
learners was found to be the
most common concern among
schools.
Meanwhile, division office
personnel exude confidence in
their barong attire as they
showcase their creative
presentation during the
launching. (JRIsidro)

A one day pre-evaluation and critiquing of project pro-
posals was conducted on March 15, 2016 at the Philkor
Room, SPED Center, Tandag City.
The activity was done to check and evaluate the con-
tent and format of the design following the template in craft-
ing a project proposal.
Design of the school project logo was one of the ele-
ments being checked in the proposal. Unique designs were
noted, however, they still need to be enhanced to better suit
the concept of the project.
Dr. Gregorio C. Labrado, Chief Education Supervisor
(SGOD), Dr. Evelyn C. Coro, Education Program Supervisor,
and Dr. Jeanette R. Isidro, Chief Education Supervisor (CID)
were the evaluators of the project proposals. (NAMendiola)
This is a good place to briefly, but effectively, describe
your product or services.
In order to capacitate the 23 ele-
mentary and five secondary school
heads, a one-day division seminar-
workshop on the crafting of project pro-
posal was held on March 11, 2016 at
PhilKor Room of SDS SPED Center.
One of the highlights discussed
during the seminar was the utilization
of the data gathered in the school im-
provement plan for SY 2016-2017.
Parts and components of a project
proposal was also emphasized by the
speaker. A sample template was given
for the participants to use during the
simulation activity.
Mrs. Gemma B. Espadero, Edu-
cation Program Supervisor and Project
UGMAD Coordinator, told the partici-
pants to focus more on the problem
found in their respective school based
on their SIP.
She also mentioned to consider
the funding sources of their project
whether possible or not.
This one-day event enabled the
school heads to come up with their own
school banner project. (PELaurente)
Select city division personnel at-
tended the three-day Seminar-
Workshop on the Implementation of Pro-
ject CLEAR on January 27-29, 2016 at
RELC II, DepEd Regional Office, Butuan
City.
Participants from the 12 divisions of
Caraga Region gathered to get oriented
with CLEAR (Caraga Leaders Empower-
ment for Advancement and Reform), a
banner project of DepEd Caraga Region.
They were tasked to craft their respec-
tive banner project of the division which
was presented and critiqued by a group
of panelist.
Series of sessions on the crafting
of a banner project was held to give the
participants a comprehensive under-
standing on the importance of coming up
such an endeavor.
UGMAD is Tandag’s project which
focuses on teachers and school heads’
welfare, competence and professional
development. (JRIsidro)
