Special Board MeetingFebruary 17, 2020

1. The Iowa Falls Board of Educa-tion was called to order in specialsession at 6:05 p.m. withMoore, Kobe, Parker and Staufferpresent; Bicknese arrived at 6:25.This was a joint meetingwith the Alden Board of Education.2. A quorum of members was de-clared.3. The agenda was approved in amotion by Parker, second by Kobe;motion carried 4-0.4. Visitors were welcomed. Therewas a discussion and explanation ofthe changes to therecognition of honors for the highschool graduates.5. A public hearing was held on the2020-21 school calendar. The boardreviewed the results ofthe calendar survey.6. Moore moved to approve calen-dar option #5, which features noearly outs and a 3-day springbreak. Parker seconded and motioncarried 3-2, with Kobe and Staufferopposed. School willstart on August 24, 2020, with aplanned ending date of May 28,2021.7. The board discussed studentmake-up days for the 2019-20school year. It was agreed that theboard will forgive up to three moredays before adding time to the endof the year.8. Kobe moved to approve the spe-cial education delivery plan commit-tee members, as presented.Stauffer seconded and motion car-ried 5-0.9. Moore moved to extend the Su-perintendent sharing agreement withthe Alden CommunitySchool District. Parker secondedand motion carried 5-0.10. The principals provided anoverview of the shared focus forprofessional development betweenthe two districts.11.
