Turnmill Proquip Engineering (Pty) Ltd, is a medium to heavy specialist engineering company situated in Vanderbijlpark. The Company supplies manufacturing, fabrication, machining, welding and refurbishment services to industrial companies.

The Company was founded in 1980 and was acquired by the present owners in 2008. The company’s operating philosophy is to combine technical excellence with a total commitment to customer service. The aim is to ensure that the highest standards of quality, workmanship and service is maintained at all times, to complete contracts on time and within budget. This is achieved by sound project management, along with experienced production and quality control personnel who ensure that production schedules and quality control measures are adhered to. This, coupled with a swift response to breakdowns, innovative problem solving and competitive cost structures have enabled Turnmill Proquip Engineering to build sound, long term partnerships with clients. Turnmill Proquip Engineering has manufactured a wide range of equipment in materials varying from boiler plate to stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and more exotic alloys. Being part of the Structa Group, Turnmill Proquip Engineering also has access to their engineers and design packages, including FEA design facilities through the subsidiary Structa Konsult.

Turnmill Proquip Engineering has developed a core competence in the area of Pressure Vessels, Columns, Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers.

Numerous units are supplied annually to the chemical, petroleum and minerals industries. Turnmill Proquip Engineering has manufactured a wide range of equipment in materials varying from boiler plate to stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and more exotic alloys. Turnmill Proquip Engineering has developed and has the necessary expertise in-house for the design of Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers, Columns and Vessels.

Design

Turnmill Proquip Engineering offers an inhouse design and draughting service. The drawing office is fully computerized. Turnmill Proquip Engineering is often called on to generate shop detailed drawings or to convert foreign drawings to South African Standards.

A fully qualified team of engineers, which includes registered Professional Engineers, are available to assist clients with the designs.

In addition, Turnmill Proquip Engineering has through the Structa Group access to an in-house Finite Element Analysis capability. This facility utilises the MSC Nastran and Marc/Mentant software suites and can perform linear static and fully non-linear analysis, coupled with thermal analysis on vessels, tanks and heat exchangers.

A certified Quality Management System is in place in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 (certification was performed by TUV Rheinland) and ISO 3834 Part 2 by Lloyds. The in-house inspection department, reporting to the QA Manager, includes a QC Engineer certified by the SAQCC, Inspectors of Pressurised Equipment certified by the SAQCC and NDT Technicians qualified to ASNT-TC-IA Level 2. In-house NDT Technicians are employed on a full time basis.Turnmill Proquip Engineering has implemented a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety Management System in line with current best practice.

As such, all operations have been structured in a manner that allows projects to be designated to the business that specializes most in that field of operations. These fabrication and engineering firms provide each other with technical support and expertise for all projects. Non Destructive Testing, Draughting, Design and High Definition Plasma Cutting are some of the many in-house services that need not be outsourced.
