CHALMIT HISTORY

INTRODUCTION

Chalmit®, formerly known as Andrew Chalmers and Mitchellwas formed in 1910 as a supplier of marine equipment toshipyards in the west of Scotland.

Today the company is one of the largest and most respectedhazardous area and marine lighting companies in the worldand supplies product internationally through sales officesand agents located in over 40 countries.

As part of the Hubbell Harsh and Hazardous division,Chalmit® can offer a global range of IEC & NEC productssuitable for hazardous area lighting and apparatusinstallations on any continent and complying with allinternational codes and standards.

In addition to hazardous area luminaires, Chalmit® hasin-house facilities for the design and manufacture offluorescent and HID control gear. This capability providesChalmit® with the ability to create ballasts tailored to meetthe specific requirements of individual luminaires. Thesebespoke design services are also available to our customersupon request.

Chalmit® has developed a user friendly programme to allow our customers the freedom of producingtheir own lighting designs. This package, CHALMLITE 5 is free of charge and allows users the ability todesign lighting layouts that range from very simple to extremely complex.

CHALMLITE 5 utilises a simple Windows-based user interface making it easy to use. The package now

includes interior, exterior and aisle lighting quantity estimators allowing luminaire quantities to be

determined quickly for budgetary purposes prior to a detailed design being done at a later date.
