This tropical island has two Nazarene districts with 50 churches & more than 10 preaching points, all of which will be impacted with approximate-ly 3200 participants. First week July 3 – July 9, 2016 Second week July 10 – July 16, 2016 The purpose of Encuentro 2016 is 1) Strengthen and encourage our Puerto Rican churches. 2) Give a life changing experience to all the youth and adults participants. Children’s & youth neighborhood crusades, evangelistic services, church construction, sports events, orchestra & musical teams culminating with the cities San Juan & Arecibo celebrating a city wide crusade. Local churches and district youth groups will be trained & equipped to work hand in hand with our Puerto Rican Nazarenes. Traveling to Puerto Rico and can’ t speak their language? It could give you the jitters, but it need not!
This little handbook has been especially designed with you in mind! Don’t be afraid, use it! Have fun trying to communicate with your Puerto Rican brothers! Don’t be embar-rassed to try —learn to laugh at yourself! The smile on your face will get you a long ways!
The universal lan-guage of the world is the communication of spirits. Genuine love, understanding and ac-ceptance of the Puerto Rican culture and peo-ple, and a big smile, will say it all!
So, don’t panic —relax! Your positive spirit and attitude will communicate a lot and make you a super and effective COMMUNI-CATOR FOR JESUS in a land where language and culture are foreign to your own. But to get you there and back, here is a little “Speedy Spanish” to help you on your way!
