The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta (BIBF) was first held in 1979 and has since become a

worldwide sensation with representatives from over 20 different countries. BIBF is a not-for-profit

event primarily run by volunteers and attracts c.100,000 individuals each year.

This year, on Sunday 14th August 2016 at 3pm, we will be combining this fantastic event with an

equally exciting affair we are attempting to break the world record for the largest cream tea party. The current record is held by Nationwide Building Society in their attempt to raise money for

Macmillan Cancer support and is just 691 people. This year we are hoping to attract 1,000 people

and to raise money for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC).

GWAAC need 2.3m a year just to keep their service available 365 days a year. In April 2016

    alone, they assisted 133 patients.

    Event Overview in Depth

    HOW DOES IT WORK?

We aim to attract approximately 1,000 participants for the Cream Tea Party, with a

fundraising target of 2,500, raised purely from donations on the day.

All participants will be provided with all of the components of a cream tea. This includes:

    A scone

    A portion of cream

    A portion of jam

A cup of tea (with milk and sugar available as required)

    A plate, knife and napkin

Planned events are an essential part of the fundraising for GWAAC, which receives no

third party funding. We hope to provide not only a financial benefit to GWAAC but also an

additional benefit in relation to the publicity generated from this event.

All money raised goes directly to GWAAC

We place great emphasis on marketing this event using print publications, social media,

online materials, personal outreach and local partnerships to spread the work. As such,

our sponsor can connect with diverse sections of our local population and enjoy thebenefits of this publicity.

We anticipate that through marketing and PR activity for this event we will be able to

connect with over 1,000,000 individuals throughout Bristol and further afield through press

releases, social media promotion and broadcasting. A full breakdown of our planned

marketing activity can be viewed overleaf.

We are happy for our sponsor to provide all participants with a branded gift supplied by

the sponsor (e.g. a sticker or a badge). Any gifts should be agreed between BIBF,

    GWAAC and the sponsor.

GWAAC provides life-saving emergency care to people who cannot be reached by road, or are in a

state so critical that they require the specialist skills of the team at the scene of the

accident. Though GWAAC is part of the regional 999 response service and works closely with NHS

hospitals; it is a charity entirely funded by local people.

From emergency cesareans to roadside amputations to treating cardiac arrests, its the skill and

dedication of the GWAAC team that means one patient in five a patient otherwise expected to die

    survives.

    Key facts:

    1655 - missions were completed in 2015

4 - average number of incidents a day which need the GWAAC team

365 days a year where the GWAAC team are on standby

2.3m costs to keep the GWAAC helicopters flying
