About the 2015 National Leadership Academy

The 2015 National Leadership Academy (NLA) is NAAAP’s mid-year leadership training program. This year’s NLA will be in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 6 to 8, 2015. March 6th will be a leadership training program for ERG/BRG leaders. March 7 & 8 will be training for NAAAP chapter leaders from Canada and the USA. The Academy anticipates approximately 60 attendees for the Friday ERG Symposium, 200 at the Friday night community reception, and approximately 100 NAAAP leaders will attend the leadership training program. The academy features networking events, keynote addresses, workshops, and working sessions facilitated by prominent Asian leaders from the business and non-profit sectors.

2015 National Convention, Expo, & ERG SummitAbout the 2015 National Convention

The National Convention is NAAAP’s annual flagship event. The 2015 NAAAP National Convention, ERG Summit & Recruitment Expo is scheduled for Aug. 6-8, 2015 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, Dallas, Texas. The theme is “Resilience - Power of the Asian Leader.” The convention will feature the ERG Summit on Thursday, Aug. 6th and the Recruitment Expo on Friday, Aug. 7th from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The convention is attended by mostly professionals, entrepreneurs, and students of Asian & Pacific Islander origins representing a wide variety of industries and occupations will gather from across North America. The focus of the convention is building personal and professional leadership capabilities across a spectrum of roles within the workplace, business resource groups, business endeavors, and in civic roles.

Recruitment Expo

The Recruitment Expo is free and open to the public during the convention. Students and professionals from diverse functions, industries, and seniority levels attend the fair. NAAAP partners with regional education institutions, companies, nonprofits, and professional associations to attract Recruitment Expo attendees. High level sponsors will receive more booth space and premium locations, ensuring good visibility with attendees of the career fair.

ERG Summit

NAAAP’s inaugural ERG Summit was held in September 2014 in conjunction with the National Convention in Anaheim. A total of 150 attended this Summit. We featured business leaders from McDonald’s, Northrop Grumman, Macy’s, CISCO, JC Penney, CIA, Clorox, and Bank of America. Topics covered included Executive Insights, Maximizing Impact of the ERG, Best Practices, and a strategic planning session. In August 2015, we are planning an even more robust program. Exclusive sponsorship of the ERG Summit is available (page 7).

ERG Programs

Employee Resource Groups (AKA Business Resource Groups, Employee Affinity Groups) are typically an outcome of an organization’s Diversity & Inclusion strategy, and a way to further engage employees. In past years, NAAAP has seen a growing number of ERG members from companies and government agencies attending NAAAP events and taking on leadership roles at NAAAP. In 2014, we held the first ERG Summit, in conjunction with the National Convention in Anaheim. A total of 150 attended this summit. In 2015, we will have an ERG Symposium in March, and another Summit in August. Recently, NAAAP participated with a select group of business and government leaders at an ERG summit convened by the Asian Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (ACE) and The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Regional Conferences

Each year, NAAAP in select cities will schedule a one or two-day conference that draws 100 to 250 attendees. Cities that typically host regional conferences include Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, and the Southern California area.
