PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (FSSMC) FOOD SERVICE SANITATION MANAGER
CERTIFICATION All establishments which serve food must
have one certified person on the premises at all times. In order to
maintain your Illinois FSSMC Certificate, or in order to obtain a
new FSSMC Certificate, you must complete an eight hour
ServSafe® IDPH approved course and pass an exam accredited
under the standards developed and adopted by the Conference for
Food Protection with a score of 75% or better. This course,
instructed by I Food Manager (IFM), covers up-to-date
information on safe food handling, preparation, food storage,
personal hygiene, and the prevention of food borne illnesses.
Successful completion includes a certificate issued by the Illinois
State Department of Public Health (IDPH). The IFM course
instructor will submit exam answer sheets to ServSafe® and will
submit the returned test scores to IDPH. IDPH will mail students
the Manager Request Form to fill out and return to IDPH with a
$35 payment. Students are not considered certified until the
Manager Request Form and payment has been submitted. IFM
will mail students a ServSafe® certificate. Courses are instructed

FOOD SERVICE SANITATION-ONLINE Students now

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN-PARAMEDIC
This course, is designed for those seeking to advance their career
in the EMS field. The content of this course will focus on the
knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the
assessment and management of patients with traumatic injuries
and related medical situations, and trauma scene conditions
management. Pre-requisite: A current Illinois EMT – B (or I)
license, HS diploma or GED, and current Healthcare Provider
CPR card. This program will be taught over three semesters
including: fall 2016, spring 2017, and summer 2017. An
evaluation of credentials is required prior to enrolling. Fee: $950
(Payment plan is available) Note: Fee does not include State
Exam Licensure fee

PHARMACY TECH ED This 12 week
course consists of 48 hours of classroom
instruction plus an optional 2 hour PTCB
prep class for a total of 50 hours of
instruction. Classes meet one evening a
week for 4 hours. Upon successful
completion of the course, students receive
a Certificate of Completion for Pharmacy
Technician instruction. The Pharm Tech Ed coursework will
provide students with the basic skills necessary for an entry level
career as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail pharmacy
setting. In addition, the coursework will prepare students to
sit for the PTCB certification exam. Coursework in this
program includes:
Origin and history of pharmacy
Drug regulations and controls
Routes and formulations
Transcribing of physician's orders
Correct medication packaging
Calculating doses
Labeling prescriptions
Preparing IVs
Drug distribution systems
and the top 200 drugs brand/generic
This course is taught by licensed Certified Pharmacy Technicians
who are professionally employed in regional pharmacies.

COOKING SERIES—HAVANA FUN & EASY FOODS Instructional method will be primarily demonstration with tasting to
follow. Recipes will be provided at each session. There are no tests. Personal recipe sharing is
encouraged by bringing copies for all enrolled students. Fees must be paid prior to the class.

GARDENING SERIES GROW U: HOME GARDENING SERIES Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or this is the first time you’ve broken ground,
cultivate your skills throughout the growing season in these classes. Each class is only $10 and is instructed by Dr. Michael

July 13: Fall Crops & Growing Garlic An extended
growing season allows us to take advantage of 3 seasons of
vegetable gardening. If you are just beginning, learn how to
get started. If you already have a garden, learn how to extend

cover crops and gain a greater understanding of what cover
crop management methods are best for providing different

July 27: Soils & Remediation Healthy soil is the
foundation for a healthy garden and key for growing
vegetables that are pest and disease resistant, taste better,
and are more nutrient dense. Learn about the types of soil in
Central Illinois and what amendments might be useful in your

NEW YOUTH PROGRAM—CANTON (For those entering 7th-9th)
UKULELE’ CAMP will be held on Wednesday, July 20th from
1-5pm. Students who attend this camp will learn about the different
types of ukuleles, tuning the instrument, and reading chords.
Students will learn a few songs and then conclude the class with a
concert in Jones Park at 5:15pm. Camp will be held at the SRC
Outreach Center located at 45 E. Side Square, Suite 302 in Canton.
Fee: $25 if you bring your own ukulele’ or $75 which includes a
ukulele’ for you to keep.
SCIENCE CAMP will be held on Wednesday, July 27th from
8:30am-3:30pm. Camp includes four sessions and lunch. A water
bottle and small notebook will also be provided. Each student will
attend all sessions which include: Trees are “Tree”rific!, Computer
Codes, Apps & Components, Crime Solvers, and an SRC Campus
Tour. Camp will be held at the SRC Canton Campus located at
23235 North County Highway 22 outside of Canton. Fee: $50

CRIMINAL JUSTICE Learn about the Illinois State Police. Students will learn the differences and similar ities between City,
County, and State Police as well as State Police History and its function within their community and what it takes to be a part of the

crack Skittles open like a clamshell? How do we make candy sink and float? Do you think we can take the letters off of an M&M? What

ADOPT-A-BULL EDUCATION Students will “adopt” a dog for the week and learn training tips, creating dog crafts
and treats, and overall ownership education. At the end of the week, students will get to try out what they have learned with one of

READY, SET, GROW! It’s time to get your hands dir ty! Whether you have a little bit of space or a lot, container gardening is a
creative way to get started growing your own vegetables. In this session, students will learn how to care for soil and plants, and how to

CREATE YOUR OWN FAIRY GARDEN This class will recycle and reuse some household items to create a new Fairy Garden!
