• On a daily basis, athletes attempt to exceed the limits of their body

• They stretch, push, maneuver, and even injure the bones and muscles in their body

• Many times, especially during competition, those who engage in sports suffer injuries and strains that lead to long-term damage to the body

• If you, a relative, or family member is thinking about participating on an athletic team, it’s important to consider physical features such as body mass index (BMI) to fully assess the safety risks of engaging in a specific sport.

• According to the National Safety Council, basketball was considered the most dangerous sport of 2013, succeeding from football and soccer

• Many of these athletes experience injuries that lead to long-term knee and back pain

• Defined by The South Texas Spinal Clinic as a fracture that occurs in the bone or in other materials, fatigue fractures are also very common in basketball athletes

• Basketball players aren’t the only ones to be exposed to these kinds of injuries

• Football players also tend to experience the severe pain because of the amount of immediate contact each player experiences
