This document is part of the “World Trade Center Post-Disaster Reconnaissance and Perishable

Structural Engineering Data Collection”, a research project funded by the U.S. National Science

Foundation at the Univ. of California Berkeley with Prof. Abolhassan ASTANEH-ASL as Principal

Investigator (http://www.ce.berkeley.edu/~astaneh) as the Principal Investigator. Duration of the project

was from 10/2001 to 9/2002. Further Information and project archives are at

Please see PowerPoint “502-WTC-Astaneh…” in this WTC Archives for explanation of the above burned member. The burning and loss of cross section have occurred after the collapse while the member was in the burning debris at Ground Zero. The photo was shot on October 8, 2001 and at the time of shooting this photo the member was still hot and steam was coming out of it as can be seen at the top of the photo.

The archives are at: http://lib.berkeley.edu/ENGI/WTC Respectfully, Abolhassan Astaneh-Asl, Principal Investigator. (This note was added to the original PowerPoint on October 10, 2013 for clarification)
