What is it?

vision

Youth for Christ Slovakia (YFC or YFCS) is anon-profit organization that has been inSlovakia already for 23 years. As the namesuggests, it focuses on young people and itsvision is to bring transformation and renewalof the church and the whole society inSlovakia according to Christian and biblicalvalues and principles. To reach this aim, YFCSlovakia cooperates with individuals andlocal church fellowships from differentChristian denominations (churches) –catholic as well as protestant.The team of employees and volunteers inYFC Slovakia also consists of believers from

different denominations who find theirspiritual covering in their own local churchesor fellowships, yet they come together at thiscommon ground to join hands and worktogether in fulfilling the visions that theyshare.Youth for Christ Slovakia is not a part of anyChristian church. It is a part of aninternational organization Youth for Christ,which works in 121 nations around theglobe. YFC Slovakia is also a part of SlovakAssociation of Christian Youth Fellowships(ZKSM). We can sum up our vision in three words: awakening – cooperation – mobilization. Our aimis the awakening of this generation – God’s movement visible in the lives of individuals, in

the church, in families, in relationships and in the whole society. In this struggle forawakening, we cooperate with Christians, we mobilize cooperation between various

groups of Christians, organizations and churches, who want to strive for awakening withus. We want to function according to the motto:

Last year, we experienced dynamic growth of LifeTv, we prepared for the start ofRecondition Center and Timothy Worship School went through big changes. We receivednew employees and volunteers who made our team bigger, younger and prettier. We arevery thankful for our new colleagues. We enjoyed precious time of talks, prayers and funtogether on our four national YFC team meetings and a teambuilding day. All the while wecontinued in our stable long-term ministries: CampFest, New DNA, Ranch Kralova Lehota,

Team

Dynamic worship, deep adoration, words of inspiration, seminars, testimonies, concerts, dance,extraordinary sports. But most of all, experiencing God’s presence together with 6 000 youngpeople! Multi-genre festival CampFest celebrated its 20th birthday in 2018. We dream togetherabout the awakening and transformation of young generation and the whole society. Our fourstages offer a colorful variety of concerts, dance, talks on relevant topics, theatre, movies,

children’s program, sports and workshops. It is beautiful to hear the sound of this generationresonating in our nation. The generation that came together to worship and adore the only trueGod. He is worthy of all praise! It is more than mere enthusiasm; it is a supernatural refrain

poured out from hearts and lives transformed by the power of Lord Jesus Christ! Generation,that cries out impatiently for a new life with Christ, for an awakening in our land!

The team behind CampFest consists of youthleaders from various Christian churches fromall around Slovakia. Together they seek ways,in which God wants to speak to the younggeneration in Slovakia.About a half of the organization leaders ofCampFest are YFC Staff members, thesecond half is made of youth leaders from allover Slovakia who take responsibility, workand lead the volunteers without any financialcompensation.Advisory team is a group of pastors andleaders of fellowships and churches fromdifferent parts of Slovakia, who have stoodbehind CampFest for many years and carrythe vision of the festival. Throughout the year,this team meets and prepares the main topicof the following CampFest, chooses speakersand outlines the main preachings.Program team creates and prepares eachdetail of special opening and closing programof CampFest, creates the program structureof the festival, chooses the artists and enjoysevery minute of it.

Prayer team is a group of about 30 people,who pray shortly with every artist or speakerbefore he or she goes on the stage. They askGod to bless and lead the program. Last threeyears we also received strong support inspiritual battle from our precious brothersfrom the movement of Czech Eagles, whoreinforced our team and brought new visionsand experience into our ministry.The team of Christian counsellors is readyto talk and pray with participants ofCampFest. About 1 000 people visitCounselling tent during the festival, seekinghelp and encouragement in various lifesituations, or they come in response to thecalls that touched their hearts during theprogram. The team is made of 80experienced and trained counselors.There is a 3-digit number of performers atCampFest – it includes speakers, musicians,worship leaders, actors, dancers, artists of allkinds, leaders of children’s program,interviewers. Thanks to this unique “3-digitnumber”, four CampFest stages radiate withlife in all its versions and colors for three days.

Technical team arranges sound, lights,projection and audiovisual recordings of allthe program.Volunteers at CampFest – that means 200young people who work at Café, in thekitchen, at registration, in CampFest Hometent, who clean the fields, buildings andtoilets, guard the parking lots, program tents,camping area, buildings and overall safety atthe festival, build multi-capacity tents, rakehay, take away hundreds of waste bins. Theyturn a field into a festival and then clean upthe festival so that it is a bare field again.

Hangar builders are strong young men whoconstruct the main program tent Hangar aweek before CampFest. They step up whena crane comes short.The preparation and realization of CampFesttakes altogether about 1 200 people, most ofwhom do it voluntarily in their free time.Thank you all for the willingness, effort,wakeful nights, endurance, love, creativityand joy that you invested into CampFest.You’re the top team!

The main theme of this year’s CampFest wascalled TO TRANSFORM: Yes, it has a colonat the end. 6 600 young Christians, mostlyfrom Slovakia and Czech Republic, cametogether to pray for the transformation: in ourcountries, our towns, in politics, families,schools, workplaces and in our hearts.We celebrated the 20th year of CampFestwith more than 30 amazing worship bandsfrom Slovakia and abroad (Worship Central,Graham Kendrick, Four Kornerz, PhilippaHanna, Rivers & Robots, Mate.O). Seminarsoffered topics such as “Did I forgive?”, “Howto overcome fear” or “How to dream withGod”. Chyc Polhit, excellent French actorand narrator, with musician quintet TheTrombinoz‘Notes, touched our hearts withthe stories of sacrifice and salvation.

“At the end of this festival, we want you toknow what should be TRANSFORMEDaround you. This needs to be somethingreally important, something that is not justyour wish, but a common thing that you andGod desire together,” said Stevo Bena, thedirector of CampFest, adding: “It is soimportant for us that we are here together.We come from different churches, differentdenominations, from different parts ofSlovakia and Czech Republic, and it is sogood that God is calling us to come together.To dream this dream together.”The atmosphere of sun, camping, friendshipand fellowship, that we enjoyed atCampFest, was unforgettable. But the mostimportant thing was the presence of Godamong us. That’s what makes CampFestworth it!

We are getting ready for the next year’s CampFest and we long for it to be special. Please,pray for us. Though CampFest is a spectacular work, it is done by simple and fragile

people. It is a grace and a priviledge, not a matter of course, that we have keenrelationships in the organization team, that there actually is any team and people who arewilling to manage this hard job for free every year. It is a miracle that we put together a

thousand of necessary details and God honors this work with His presence and His works.It is His miraculous grace that young people come and meet Him at this festival. We

believe that your prayers stand behind these miracles, too.

Through Christian television channel LifeTv, which has broadcasted since 2016, we create aspace for local churches and fellowships in Slovakia to bring the gospel right to the livingrooms of people in a simple and respectful way. Today, our terrestrial broadcast reaches to

almost 100 000 households in Slovakia and Czech Republic. The program includes recordingsfrom YFC conferences and events, sermons from various churches, worship, concerts, movies,cartoons, testimonies, documents and TV programs from our own production. Our goal is tocreate a TV channel that will bring the atmosphere of love, joy and peace into our homes.

Ministry reportIn the first year of its existence, “TheMagnificient Seven” members of LifeTv teamhad many, many challenges in front of them.To create 6 hours of premiere program foreach day, to make connections with cablecompanies, to find finances for day-to-dayfunctioning of the TV, to develop partnershipswith program partners from Slovakia andfrom abroad, to come up with ideas for newTV programs, to record, to cut, to mastersound and graphic design, to translate, tosubtitle, to dub, to create playlists…After 2 years of broadcasting, we can say thatLifeTv not only managed to remain onscreens, but it develops dynamically andbrings higher and higher quality programevery day. We must mention the programsfrom our own production. Every week, wecreate two episodes of talk show A Guest forToday. These are interviews with ministersfrom various churches, various fields of workand various parts of Slovakia. These peoplehave a lot to say! And our curious interviewerentreats them to say it all. Another programfrom our own production isWorship with…

Here, we introduce Slovak and Czechworship bands. It is a 45-minute soirée ofsongs and testimonies.We also create Hobby magazine – a cookingprogram with interesting guests who tell usabout their life. Together is a documentseries about Slovak youth fellowships. BeforeChristmas, we record a special program forthis special occasion. We also process agreat number of materials from our ownevents and conferences and create avaluable evangelism program from it.An interesting novelty is a connectionbetween LifeTv team and our TimothyWorship School, where we opened severalnew study programs: video and graphicdesign, sound mastering and mediacommunication.We already receive e-mails, in which peopleexpress their thanks for the TV broadcast.They are especially thankful for the fact thatthe TV program helps them start discussionsabout Christian themes in their families. Thisway their unbelieving family members canhear the gospel, too.

Vision

In 2016 we had 6 staff members employed towork in LifeTv. In 2017 we hired one morecolleague and in 2018 we accepted one full-time volunteer. In order to work properly, theTV would need to employ about 12 morepeople. We pray that God would send uspeople who are professionals in their fieldbut also carry the vision of LifeTv in theirhearts.This year, we finish the construction ofcontainer building in Kralova Lehota. Thisbuilding will serve as a workplace for LifeTvteam and other YFC Slovakia staff, as abackground for CampFest andaccommodation for our volunteers. We willalso have counselling rooms for New DNAministry, and a recording studio for LifeTvhere. We are still raising finances to cover allcosts of this construction.Please, pray for us, for our wisdom in thecreation of new programs, for open door to

cable companies and development of LifeTvmarketing and for God’s blessing andprovidence in covering the financialexpenses of this vision.If you would like to become a financialsupporter of LifeTv, you can send your giftsto YFC Slovakia bank account. ministry reportWe accommodated 2 100 guests at theRanch in 2017, apart from those who cameto CampFest (approx. 6 300 young people).Most of our calendar was filled with YFCSlovakia events (New DNA School andRetreats, Timothy Worship School,Conferences for Christian Ministers, forTeachers, Conference Mobilization,CampFest). Throughout the whole year theRanch hosted team meetings of internalteam, organization team and advisory teamof CampFest and on several occasions ourconference hall turned into a recordingstudio of LifeTv, or a rehearsal and trainingstudio for Slovak worship bands.Apart from the YFC events, we also hostedmany children, youth and family campsorganized by different Christian fellowshipsand churches from all over Slovakia. Theseincluded Levites Camp for more than 360children in three week courses, New Year’syouth camp of ESPE fellowship, Assembliesof God National Youth Conference, familycamp of Open Brethren, support meeting ofteachers of children from difficultbackground (organization Teach forSlovakia), elementary school trip from Narniaschool in Banska Bystrica or children’s campERKO. It was an honor for us to welcomeyou all in our center and witness thewonderful work that you do for the younggeneration.

ou brought with you the atmosphere of joy,fun and God’s unconditional love! Thankyou!The Ranch also became a place of familycelebrations and holidays. A cherry on top ofour Ranch events in 2017 was a wedding.A volunteer camp for international students– Project Compassion from Germany was agreat help for the Ranch and for surroundingvillages. They lay a pavement from mainbuilding at the Ranch to one of the cabins,cleaned up the surrounding area of thecontainer building and helped withconstruction work in the family day center forGypsy minority in Vazec and in the socialdormitory in Ruzomberok. Thank you!Our immense thanks goes to the Westgate –South Hills Church from San José, USA. Forthe fifth time, a team of 8 volunteers, wiseand experienced men of God under theleadership of pastor Bill Dempster, visited usat the Ranch for two weeks and broughtgreat financial support, greetings andprayers of their church and skillful hands thatmanaged to build the whole roofconstruction of the container building. Yourpartnership and love is an unspeakableencouragement, help and comfort for us!Thank you for standing with us so faithfully!

The staff at the Ranch endures a lot of hard work and keeps smiling at the same time.These people are the practical and also emotional support for many people serving in YFCand other organizations. They themselves also need people who will “cover their back” inprayer. Please, pray for their health, peace of heart and spiritual protection. We are alsolooking for volunteers who would be willing to become a part of our team, move to the

newWhat is it?

Christian counsellors minister to people through personal conversation and prayer. Thisministry applies the biblical principles under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and seeksto help people find solutions for problems in relationships with God, with themselves

and with other people. In February 2018, YFC Slovakia started a new school year of ourtwo-year study program – New DNA Counselling School. In 20 weekend seminars, itteaches practical aspects of counselling ministry. Our staff, as well as counsellors whofinished New DNA School, serve at CampFest, in our local counselling centers, at New

DNA Retreats and in their own local churches and fellowships.

God did great things through DNA ministrythroughout the year. At every event we heara lot of testimonies about God’s work inpeople’s lives and the changes that theyexperience in their personal lives, familiesand family relations. Every one of thesestories testifies about a better, more intimaterelationship with the Lord. Some people alsotake their relatives or friends to these events.These people often start believing in the LordJesus after some time and receive personalcounselling and prayer, too.At the end of January 2018, we celebratedthe end of two-year cycle of New DNASchool.

75 students, who successfully finished thestudy program, undertook practical tests(ministered to each other) and receivedcertificates at the final ceremony. Thesepeople are a great encouragement to us.Many of them are involved in counsellingministry in their local churches or at ourevents and in YFC counselling centers. Theyare our very precious co-workers at NewDNA Retreats and in the Recondition Center,which is a new YFC ministry that we havejust started. Thank you very much forpassing on what you have received from theLord!

We started a new 2-year cycle of New DNASchool in 2018. We accepted 120 newstudents. We look forward to what these twoyears will bring. At the beginning of 2018, wealso started a new ministry project. Weopened the Recondition Center at the RanchKralova Lehota. It is a program thatcombines counselling ministry withmentoring and volunteer program. This waywe give people in difficult life situations anopportunity to restart their lives.If you would like to help sustain this visionfinancially, you can send your one-time orregular support to YFC Slovakia bankaccount. You will find the account number atthe end of this brochure in section Support.Your gift will be used for salaries of our full-time counsellors (Zuzka, Janka, Albinka,Martin), for the arrangement of counsellingministry at CampFest, for maintenance costsof Bardejov counselling center (rent,electricity, heating…) and for thedevelopment of the new Recondition Center.

Dominika is 21 years old and she’s liveda busy and (in her words) broken life. She gotinto a bad company of young people,especially boys, when she was 14. Throughthis group of people, she got into alcohol,drugs, satanism and various pervertedpractices that go with it. She’s gone throughdetox programs that helped her from drugsand alcohol. Now that she is not addictedanymore, she started to have psychological,or rather demonic problems.At our first counseling session, she decidedto give her life to the Lord Jesus, she invitedHim into her life as her Lord and then theprocess of deliverance started. Because shehad fallen deep into the mud of evil and hadlived a difficult life, the process ofdeliverance is longer and more difficult too.But after half a year, we already can seea visible change (and she testifies so).Through Dominika’s struggles, her parentsand two siblings also decided to accept theLord Jesus. Now they pray for anotherDominika’s sister, who is the last member ofthis family, who does not believe yet.

What is it?Most Café in Presov welcomes you with wide offer of tea, coffee, mixed

beverages, ice cream desserts and other delicious treats. Through this ministry, wewould like to create a bridge (“Most” = bridge in Slovak language) through whichyoung people can come to God. We work to make Most Café a place where youngpeople like to return, because they not only find good coffee or ice cream here, but

find kind approach, acceptance and interest in the first place.

In this new ministry, we want to create aplace for people who find themselves indifficult life situations and need a long-termhelp. We work on creating a safe place at theRanch Kralova Lehota, where these peoplecan live and work in community, receivecounselling and prayer from experiencedcounsellors, rest, grow and get ready toreturn to their normal life in a healthy way.

Timothy Worship School is a study program in 18 weekend seminars helping you grow increativity and worship leading. This does not only involve music! We teach different kindsof worship expression in 7 study programs: music, dance, visual art, prayer, video andgraphic design, sound mastering and media communication. The school has close

connection with LifeTv and teach seminars that focus on media sphere.

We created a new team full of youngpeople and in January 2018 we managed toopen a new school year with new studyprograms. Right now we have 75 regularstudents each month again. We see themgrow and move forward and it’s a good sight.

Timothy Worship School went throughserious changes, turbulence and renewal in2017. VisionCounselors in Bardejov YFC Center serve those who ask for help every day. Becausethe need and interest for this ministry is huge, people who ask for counselling have toarrange a date of their counselling session long ahead. The vision of this counsellingcenter is according to the words of Isaiah: “to proclaim good news to the poor, to bindup the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darknessfor the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of

our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion – tobestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning,

and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.“ (see Isaiah 61:1-3, NIV)

Bardejov Center experienced many changesand also many beautiful things that God hasprepared in 2017. Three members of ourteam (Albinka, Vlasto and Benjamin) movedfrom Bardejov to Kralova Lehota and that leftJanka alone in the Center. However, newpeople and volunteers joined the life inBardejov Center very soon after that. Theybuilt beautiful relationships with each other,as they prayed together for their town andGod’s work in it.

Several churches in Bardejov came togetherand organized a Repentance Day for thecrimes of holocaust with the participation ofthe Mayor of Bardejov and otherrepresentatives in October 2017.Prayer groups met in Bardejov Center everyTuesday and Wednesday. Everyday peoplecame for counselling and prayer with Jankaand other three counsellors, who took part inthe ministry as volunteers.

Right now our band serves intensively in CampFest preparations, at Timothy WorshipSchool and other YFC activities (not only in Slovakia). We play at approx. 60 concerts,

worship evenings, evangelisms or prayer meetings in a year.

We don’t want to just talk about our God, we want to know Him personally!

But we still want to give more to our God! That’s why we decided to take a risk and leaveour jobs and set ourselves apart for serving our God. To be at His service, so that He canbring transformation to the lives of people through our praise, prayers and through theworks that we publish. Please pray for us. Our voices and sounds can influence a lot of

people and a lot of things in the invisible, spiritual world. We need wisdom and guidance ofthe Holy spirit to choose what we say, sing and play. We will be very grateful for your

prayers for our families, our relationships with the Lord, for protection and God’s guidancein all that we do.

Zion worship band is made of young people, who live at our mission base in KralovaLehota and close surroundings. Their vision is to create modern and high-quality music toworship the King of kings and lead people to His presence. You can hear them play and

worship at many YFC events.

We want every day to bring newthings in our lives – transformation of ourrelationships with Jesus and transformationof the things around us. Timothy is more than a band to us. It is amission and a calling to build unity in ournation and help people come together in asupernatural way. Ministry reportCampFest prayer team has served at thisfestival since its beginnings in 2000. Wedon’t want CampFest to be “just” a festivalwith great music and arts. Our desire is thatGod would speak to people who come toCampFest and do miracles in their lives. Andwe believe that He hears us when we askHim to do this. We are very grateful for ourbrothers from Czech Eagles movement, whoformed a key part of the team of propheticwatchmen and were a precious help andencouragement to us.

After a gap year we opened a prayerworkshop at Timothy Worship School inJanuary 2018 and received 17 new students.Prayer workshop is a two-year studyprogram, where we learn together not only topray “happily and readily”, but also to praydeep, focused and strategic prayers. Welearn what the Bible says about prayer andspiritual warfare and what kind of prayersGod “happily and readily” answers.

MobilizationMobilization is a conference for those whodream about “His will being done on earth asit is in heaven,” for those who want to prayand fight together with us for the awakeningin our land. It is a conference of prayer andfasting, where we meet with volunteers andleaders who work with us in preparation andorganization of CampFest, and with otherswho join us every year.

We pray together for the coming festival andfor our nation. The program includestestimonies and time for buildingrelationships among different ministries inSlovakia. Between Mobilization andCampFest there are 40 days, during whichwe keep prayer chain for CampFest and forits preparation.

Conference for Christian MinistersYFC Slovakia has organized this conference for 10 yearsnow. At first, it focused on teaching the counsellors whoserve at CampFest, but we broadened the target group ofthis conference last year and made it a conference for allChristian servants. Its aim is to encourage and train peoplefrom all Christian denominations from Slovakia and CzechRepublic, who serve God in any way. Each year, we invitespecial guests who share their unique experience fromministry and from their life with God. The teacher’s work isinteresting, creative and full of new stimuli.But often it is also difficult and exhausting.That’s why we would like to serve you now.We want to create a meeting place for you tostart connections, share experiences and getsome rest.”The theme of our 2018 conference was “ATeacher and a Parent”.

As teachers and as Christians, we caninfluence our pupils´ relationships with theirparents a lot. Cooperation in the educationof a child and keen, true interest andcommunication can often bring God’s lightand hope into the whole families. Moreover,there are not only Christian teachers, butalso parents who are Christians.Cooperation and mobilization of these twodifferent worlds has a potential to change theatmosphere in schools.

Daniel’s Generation is a two-day preparation conference for more than 200 volunteersfollowed by 8 days of work to prepare and organize CampFest. The volunteers come to

CampFest for 10 days.

The conference is a time of spiritualencouragement, building relationships inteams, fun and rest before everything starts.It includes training, workshops, preaching,worship, games and team activities. Theprogram of this two-day preparationconference continues in the evenings during“working days” before CampFest.After two days of the conference, there arethree days of construction of multi-capacitytents and preparation of the whole festivalarea. Then CampFest starts. For four days,volunteers serve in their teams. When thefestival is over and the tired but happyparticipants go home, the happy but tiredvolunteers stay to put down tents and stagesand clean the site. The last night, with thelast strength, they share amazingtestimonies.

Awakening Slovakia 2017 took place inLiptovsky Mikulas right after ConferenceMobilization. We welcomed worship bandPlanetshakers from Australia, speakers BenFitzgerald, Adam Shepski, Jan Buc, MarianLipovsky, Vlado Zak, Michal Kevicky andSlovak worship bands ESPE and Timothy.Awakening Slovakia 2017 was attended byapprox. 800 people.

Awakening Slovakia continues in the visionof Worship Festivals that YFC used to do inSlovak cities a few years ago. The vision wasto organize a meeting of Christians in thecity, encourage cooperation betweenchurches and fellowships from differentdenominations in the city and region andworship Jesus as the King of kings together– because He’s the One who unites us. In thelast years we occasionally organizedworship events in Ruzomberok, LiptovskyMikulas, Kosice and Poprad under a newname: Awakening Slovakia. Every time wehad a worship band from abroad (HillsongLondon, Hillsong Y&F, Matt Redman,Hillsong Australia) and Slovak worshipleaders and speakers – pastors, priests andyouth leaders.

In cooperation with several local churches,YFC Slovakia helps organize an openmeeting of Christians in Liptovsky Hradok. Itis not a YFC Slovakia project; it is a commoninitiative of Christians in our region and weare glad that we can witness it and be a partof it.Liptov Worship takes place once a monthand hosts Christian music bands andspeakers from Liptov or guests from otherparts of Slovakia. We dream about Godtouching the Liptov region in which we haveserved together for several years. We senseGod’s strong promises not only for Liptov,but also for our whole nation. We believe thatit is time for us, the young generation, toremember the struggles and prayers of ourspiritual fathers and leaders and takeresponsibility for spreading the good news ofGod’s Kingdom in our families, in ourschools, in the streets…
