Study after study demonstrates the benefits of leading a well-balancedlifestyle, with time to pursue personally satisfying hobbies like sewing, quiltmaking, and other needle arts. Similar to yoga, creating with needle and thread allows the mind to focus on the task at hand,clearing away distractions and problems. Psychologist and bio feedback experts conducting a recent clinical study feel the benefits of a hobby like sewing cannot be over-stated.
When put to the scientific test, sewing lowered blood pressure andrespiration more than other hobbies. Quilters sleep better and havefewer colds. Quilter’s wounds healed faster. Working with needle andthread was found to give Quilters the time and space to think theirown thoughts, dream their own dreams, and to plan their lives.Quilting is about love and relationships. It can be life-affirmingand life-giving. In short, quilting is therapy! It’s good for us!
