SECANE STATION Located along the Media-Elwyn Line, Secane Station consists of low level platforms and offers little shelter. This will change in Fall 2017 when the new accessible station is expected to be completed. What appears to be a maze of rebar and timber now will become a ramp leading up to high level platforms containing a new station building with an expansive canopy. In addition, there will be expanded parking and a pedestrian tunnel for crossing the tracks safely. Workers are currently building the concrete columns that support the platform and walls for the ramp and station building. The traditional entrance stairways are being transformed with new headhouses that incorporate function, security, and a permanent Art in Transit installation depicting a stylized Philadelphia street map pattern with colorful acrylic resin inserts. A pair of new elevators, providing ADA access to the station fareline, are companions to the headhouse stairway structures. To date, the steel panels have been installed on 2 of the 4 headhouses and construction on the first elevator is nearing completion. Completion of work on this ADA Station improvement project is scheduled for Summer 2017.

40TH STREET STATIONConstruction is taking place at 40th & Market Streets, a busy West

Philadelphia intersection that is home to the Market-Frankford Line 40th St Station and Trolley diversion route terminus. YARDLEY STATIONConstruction at Yardley Station began in Spring 2016. Part of the new high-level boarding platform has been completed and is

open for passenger use. The platform has an accessible ramp, stairs, an open-air shelter, and new signage and lights. Demolition has started on the old platform. The new Yardley Station will have a single platform on the inbound side; the outbound platform will be demolished and renewed as green space. The majority of the work is being performed by SEPTA’s in-house forces.

ARROTT TRANSPORTATION CENTER Last rehabilitated in 1985, the former Margaret-Orthodox Station is one of the few remaining stations on the section of the MFSE

to receive a makeover. Thanks to the passage of Act 89, construction began in 2016 on the renamed Arrott Transportation Center Station. Construction of new platforms and structural work to the guideway is ongoing. The work site hums with activity throughout the night to minimize the impact on traffic and local businesses during the day. New cast-in-place concrete platforms are being constructed and their edges milled to install tactile tiles. Construction crews are working to erect the steel frame for the temporary fareline which includes a stairway, cashier booth, and fare gates. The main entrance will be closed in spring 2017 to allow for rehabilitation of the station building. Temporary towers are periodically being used on Frankford Avenue to support the load of the girders while structural repairs to the guideway are being performed.

15TH STREET STATION15th Street Station is the second phase of a four phase project designed to make City Hall and 15th Street Stations accessible

for all, safe and secure, user-friendly, code compliant, and easy to maintain. More than 30,000 riders use City Hall and 15th Stations daily on weekdays, so the project was divided into four phases to mitigate customer inconvenience. The massive undertaking began in 2012 with renovations to the concourse below Dilworth Park that included the installation of three elevators to access the eastbound trolley 15th Street Station and eastbound and westbound 15th Street Station. Following the completion of the first phase in 2014, work now continues at 15th Street Station. The fare line at the 15th Street Station mezzanine will be reconfigured and receive new SEPTA Key turnstiles to improve passenger flow. Three new elevators and ramps will be added to provide full access for riders with disabilities to the platforms. The existing platforms are being replaced with new ones that will have tactile edges and tiled surfaces. The station interiors and systems will be updated with new finishes, lighting, and structural repairs. By Fall 2018, 15th Street Station will be fully renovated and ADA compliant.

Three new elevators will be installed. Two out of the three elevators will connect the platform to the overpass and are under construction. The surrounding sidewalks around the entrances and exits to the station will be restored. With progress well underway, the renovated Arrott Transportation Center will breathe life into the Frankford community by making public transportation more inviting and accessible. The project will be finished in Fall 2018.
