ResponsibilitiesThe Chicago Heights Park District assumes no responsibility for injuries or loss of personal property while attending a Park District-sponsored activity or facility. We ask that all participants in Chicago Heights Park District programs carry their own medical insurance. Though we make every effort to minimize situations that could lead to injuries, accidents can happen. Group coverage through the Park District is not available because the high costs of medical insurance prohibit us from offering quality programs at their current low rates.

Waivers of LiabilityTo participate in any Chicago Heights Park District program, you must sign a waiver releasing the Park District of any liability.

Board MeetingsThe Chicago Heights Park District Board of Commissioners meeting is held the second Monday of each month at 7 pm at the Recreation Center, 1400 Chicago Road. Meetings are open to the public, if you are interested, please feel free to attend.

ParentsYou are an important part of your child's learning process and we encourage you to become as involved as possible. However, our instructors have found that the quality of instruction is affected by parent and/or sibling distractions. You are always welcome to discuss your child's progress with his/her in-structor. We hope that your child will attend class independently. With your child's best interest in mind, you are invited to attend the last class of the session. Thank you for your cooperation.

Park PermitsAll parks are open to everyone's use during regular park hours of dawn to dusk. The Park District will be issuing permits to resident groups of Chicago Heights starting January 1st to individuals who wish to reserve picnic areas. Requests for 2020 park rentals are now being accepted.

Park WatchPlease call Chicago Heights Park District Police Department at (708) 390-7450.

Do It Today - Don't DelayIf you wait until the last minute to register, the program or class you want to attend may not be available. At some point, we have to determine if enroll-mentissufficienttoholdtheclassandmayhavetobecancelledduetolowenrollment. Call the Chicago Heights Recreation Center to register today! (708) 755-1351.

Would you like to teach a class? We are always searching for "something new" to offer our residents. Maybe you have a new and fun or creative idea for a program you would like to share. You might have special talent that you can share. If this offer applies to you, please call our Program Director, Wanda Rodgers-Spruell at (708) 755-1351 ext. 112.

It’s time to make lemonade out of lemons! Your stuck at home, so how do you and your family stay healthy, lower stress and get through the boredom during this time? Well here are some fun tips and activities for you and your family to enjoy:

•Get your EXERCISE and some vitamin D while planting a “Family Garden.” This is a win-win for you and your family while looking forward to a beautiful bounty of veggies.

• Get some great HEATHY RECIPES and cook together. If you chose to plant a garden, you can cook veggies from your home garden.

• Start a “FAMILY BOOK CLUB”. Just check out some of the latest books to download and have your family to read. Then pick out a time to discus the book with your family. This can be done with your family and friends via skype or conference call. Be creative!

• FAMILY EXERCISE TIME! Set aside 30 minutes a day to do various excises with the kids, maybe try a Foot Race. If you are part of a competitive family, then why not make exercise go right along withthat?Youcanset-upafinishlineand a start line in your yard. Then, as a family, race each other to see who can beat the other’s time. Do it repeatedly for a full 30-minute workout.

•PLAY A GAME. You can play fun games like Twister or Red Light, Green Light to get your whole family moving.

•Plant some flowers. Again, this is great exercise and very relaxing. This is something you can do alone or with the family.

During this time, it is a great need for assistance in all areas for the residents of our city. Now there is help for our community through a monthly food give-away sponsored by the Greater Chicago Food Depository Fresh Produce mobile and the Chicago Miracle Temple Church. This event is hosted once a month by the Chicago Heights Park District. Please make sure you bring something to carry your food in. All residents of Chicago Heights are welcome to come. Please be advised that this event is based on firstcome, firstserved. Therefore, itis not guaranteed that everyone will receive food items offered.

A real gem and a great value! This spacious facility is available for banquets, parties and other special events. Make your reservations now!

Built in 1991, this 9-hole course has grown into a mature, well-manicured course with undulating greens and wide-open fairways. As you hit over water on our par 3 island-greened 8th hole that is surrounded by sand, you will understand why it is one of the most demanding holes in Chicagoland golf.

This stunning facility is a great place to host showers, birthday, anniversary or holiday parties. Video gaming is now available.

It is our goal to give our customers a fantastic golf experience at each of our courses.

Both facilities have full service bars offering snacks to enjoy before or after your round.

Civic duty and community impact.Your organization is already active and involved in your community, and promoting the 2020 Census can increase your community impact exponentially. Talk to residents and your members about completing the 2020 Census—the count of everyone who lives in the United States.

Responding to the census is important.

The 2020 Census will influence funding for community services for the next 10 years. Data from the census helps determine where more than $675 billion is spent each year in states and communities. That includes money for things like:

› Housing and food assistance

› Libraries and community centers

› First responders, like firefighters

› Medicare and Medicaid

› Hospitals

› Schools

Responding is easy.

Beginning in mid-March 2020, people will be able to respond to the census online, by phone, or by mail. They can choose the option that works best for them.

Responding is safe.

Personal information provided on the census is kept confidential by law. An individual’s responses can only be used to produce statistics. They cannot be shared with law enforcement agencies or used against people by any government agency or court in any way.
