England Rugby League Academy began prepa-

raons for a two match series versus Wales

with the rst of two training sessions held at

Streord High School, with the second on Oc-

    tober 9th.

The squad is made up of players aged 19 and 20

from Super League and most have broken

through into rst grade. They included some

future superstars of the game including the

Wigan duo of Ryan Hampshire and Lewis Tier-

ney, son of rugby legend Jason Robinson. The

squad linked with GCSE and BTEC PE students

and it was a great chance for sports students to

see rst hand elite professional sport in acon

on their doorstep. England Academy play Wales

in November whilst the area hosts the senior

World Cup Final at Old Traord in November.

Salford City stadium also hosts the group game

between Scotland and the USA. Please see the

    noceboard for details.

Why did you chose this sport over the others?I chose this sport over others because I just felt comfortable playing it, was

the most enjoyable thing for me and I was good at it

What do you do now as an elite potenal performer that you didn't before? As an elite athlete I have a healthier diet which includes food and drink,

sleeping early and also focusing on my school work to balance out sport and

    educaon.

How oen do you train?I train three mes a week plus a match.
