2) Poster Making Competition

An inter-college Poster Making Competition was organized by Red Ribbon Club at Hindu College, Amritsar on February 17, 2018. Simran Kaur of M.Com Sem-IV won third prize in the contest.

3) Tech Fest 2018 Khalsa College, Amritsar organized an inter-college ‘Tech Fest 2018’ on February 28, 2018 to hone the IT skills of students of various colleges. Students of SSSS College of Commerce for Women participated in various events viz. IT Caption, Web Nexus, Feel the Beat, Tech Collage etc. Prizes won in various events are given below:

1) Techno Utsav

An inter-college tech fest ‘Techno Utsav’ was organized by Amritsar Engineering and Technology on February 17, 2017. It comprised of various events such as Catch The Bug, Ad-Mad Show, Rangoli, Extempore, Poster Presentation, Group Dance etc. Simran Kaur of M.Com Sem-I won the first prize in Poster Presentation contest.

2) Inter-College Business Quiz

An inter-college business quiz was organized by ‘Economic Times’ at Amritsar College of Engineering & Technology on April 5, 2017. Four teams comprising of 2 students each participated and the team constituting Khushboo Joshi and Sonika Silly from B.Com Sem-VI won

the first prize. They were awarded with a cash prize of `5000 and a winning trophy.

3) Inter – College Tech Fest 2017

An inter – college Tech Fest was organized by Tech Era Computer society of Khalsa College on April 15, 2017. Students contested in various events like IT Drama, Tech-Collage, Tech-Rangoli etc. The prizes won in various events are as follows

V. Significant Achievement/Placement (2016-17)

a) A skill development course in “Entrepreneurship Development” was conducted by Mr. Rahul Mahajan, Executive, National Career Service, Minister of Labour and Employment with the help of RSETI, PNB, Distt. Amritsar. Around 50 students participated in the course.

b) A two-day ‘i-policy’ course was held with the help of Mr. Rishi Kochhar, Co-ordinator

Amritsar Policy Group and Center for Civil Society (A Delhi based Think Tank), Delhi with

31 participants.

c) Khushboo Joshi and Sonika Silli from B.Com Sem-VI won Winner Trophy in Business Quiz

held at ACET Manawala organized by Economic Times Newspaper.

d) Kavishri team won Overall Second Trophy at GNDU Inter-zonal Youth Festival.

e) Radhika of BCA Sem-VI and Shipra of B.Com Sem-VI were selected by AON as CS Specialist in a pool campus drive held at Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology.

f) Divya Sharma got 97 percentile in NITAT organized by NIIT.

g) Radhika and Twinkle of BCA Sem-V won a cash prize of Rs. 2500 each in a General

Knowledge Quiz organized by Jaipuria Institute of Management.

h) Simran Kaur of M.Com Sem-I won the first prize in Poster Presentation contest in an inter-

college tech fest 'Techno Utsav' organized by Amritsar Engineering and Technology.

i) Communication Skill Workshops were held regularly once a week.

j) Group Discussions were held – at least 2 sessions for each class spread over two

Semesters.

k) A workshop on ‘Capital Markets’ for faculty was held on April 17, 2017 with the help of

Dr. H.S. Sidhu and a local Stock Market Expert.

VI. Additions To Infrastructure (2016-17)

a) Renovation of Administrative Block.

b) Computer laboratories have been shifted to the renovated portion of the administrative block.

c) A new Gurmat Bhavan has been constructed.

d) 122 iron chairs purchased for the M.Com classes.

e) Submersible pump was installed for regular supply of drinking water

a) Two classrooms have been constructed & the open stage has been renovated.

b) N-computing lab for M.com had been set up.

c) Purchased requisite software viz SPSS& Microsoft licenses for the computer lab .

d) Purchased books worth 1,70,000/- for the College library.

e) A Xerox machine ‘Ricoh’ was purchased and fitted in a separate section adjoining

the computer lab.

1) GNDU Youth Festival 2013

College participated in GNDU Youth Festival 2013 (Oct. 9 to 11, 2013) with great fervour

and enthusiasm. The students of the college participated in different events viz. Group

Shabad, Folk Songs, Geet / Gazal, Elocution, Debate, Poetical Symposium, Poster Making,

Landscape, Collage, Fancy Dress etc. and won great applause from the audience in each

item. The individual prizes won are as follows:

6) Essay writing competition was organised jointly by Liberal Youth Forum and Deptt of

social Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar in the month of October. Hansika Bedi of BBA-III won the

First Prize. She was awarded 5000 and a certificate. Mehak R. Singh of B.Sc (Eco)-III was

awarded 1000. The judges highly appreciated the originality of their work.
