“When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days; Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon,”Jeremiah 37:16-17. Dothescripturesseemtobeoutofdateinthismodernworld?Tosometheyaremorefittinginthepastwhenlifewassimpler.Nowwiththetechnologyoftodayweseemtohavelesstimetoourselvesandcanhardlygoanywhereandbeoutofcontactwithothers.Eveninchurch,orafu-neralhome,youoftenhearsomeone’sphonering.Ihaveseentwo,orthree,peopleatatableandeachofthemontheirphonestalkingto,ortexting,someoneinanotherlocation.I’msurethatwe’vegotmorecontactwithotherpeople,butwehavelesscontactwithGod. ManychurcheshavelessemphasisontheWordofGodandmoreonsocialactivities.Biblestudyandeveningser-viceshavebeendroppedatmanycongregations.Sunday

schoolisnotimportanttomanychurchmembersandisindangerofbeinglosttoo.Peoplesaythattheyaretoobusyandhavelittleornotimetocometotheseservices.Thisre-sultsinfolkshavinglittleknowledgeofthebibleandwiththepassingoftimetheydriftfartherawayfromthetruth. 2 Thessalonians 2:3tellsofa“Fallingaway,”whichisusuallymentionedasafallingawayinthenumberofpeoplecomingtochurch.Whilethisistrueitcanalsorefertoafall-ingawayfromthetrueteachingofGod’sWord. Manyhavedecidedtostoppreachingaboutdoctrinesthatpeopledon’tlike.Hellisonethatsomechurchesandpreach-ershavestoppedtalkingabout.Theexcuseisthatitscaredpeopleandsotheyjustdon’twanttotalkaboutit.Jesustalk-edaboutitandsodidthechurchsowhatgivesmodernmantheauthoritytodropthesubject?Therearemanydoctrinesinthebiblethatsomepeoplehavedecidedtoignore.WhatwilltheysaywhentheystandbeforetheLord?“Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’S house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’S house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:”Jeremiah 26:2. Sointhismoderndayinwhichwelivewemightaskthequestion,“IsthereanywordfromtheLord?ConsiderthisfromJonah 3:1-2,“And the word of the LORD came unto

Jonah the second time, saying, 2 Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.”TheseversesshowthatGodhadnotchangedhismind.Jo-nahwastopreachthesamemessagethatGodhadtoldhimtointhefirstplace.Itisthesametoday,wearetopreachthesamemessageofsalvationthatGodgavetomaninthebe-ginning.Theplanofsalvationhasnotchanged;wewillneedtoobeyanddowhatJesustoldustodo.WeneedtorepentandseektowalkwithGod,notinawaythatsatisfiesus,butinthewaythatGodcommanded. WearetoldinscripturetoseekfirsttheKingdomofGodandhisrighteousness.Thatisstillthecommand,buthowmanytrytodothat?AlotofpeopleknowmoreabouttheirfavoritesportsteamthantheydoaboutGod’sWord.Haveyounoticedthatthesamepersonswhodon’thavetimetoreadthebiblewillknowallabouttheballgame,finances,politics,andwhateverelsetheyareinterestedin?“For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also,”Matt 6:21. IfweareseriousaboutlivingfortheLordthenweknowwhatwemustdo.LiveforGod,doinghiswillandlisteningtohiswordandnotthatofeverydeceiverandfalseteacherthatcomesalong.Godhasn’tchanged,but,wehadbetterchangefromgivinglipservicetoactuallywalkingwiththeLord.
