Dear Parishioners:

One day after a busy morning of shopping in the city, a woman stopped at a café to order some lunch because she had worked up quite an appetite. She put her bundles down, sat and waited to be served. Just then she saw a man staring at her from the other side of the room. She felt increasingly more uncomfortable until she could tolerate it no longer. She got up and rushed over to the man’s table and said, “It’s rude to stare, why are you looking at me?” The man responded, “I am not star-ing at you M’am, I am blind!” The woman was so ashamed that she left the café with-out even retrieving her belongings. The waiter had to chase her down the street.

There is a blindness which is worse than physical lack of sight. As the old song goes, “There is none so blind as he who will not see….” It is what keeps us from seeing the good in others as well as our own defects. Ironically, Bartimaeus in today’s Gospel saw better than anyone else because he recognized Jesus as the one who could make him see, the Messiah. He had the inner sight of faith, and Our Lord was obviously moved by his earnest plea, “Master, I want to see.” Would that we could courageously make that prayer our own. I say courageous because having physical sight meant that the man’s life would be radically changed forever. He would no longer be able to rely on the charity of others as a beggar. He would now have to work for a living. Removing our own blinders takes courage because it means we must see the world not as we are but rather as it really is. Then we can see things through God’s eyes. We call that wisdom. Do we want to see?

Estimados feligreses:

Un día después de una mañana ajetreada de compras en la ciudad, una mujer se detuvo en una cafetería para pedir algo de comer porque se había generado bastante hambre. Colocó sus bolsas en el piso, se sentó y esperó a la mesera. En ese momen-to vio a un hombre que la miraba desde el otro la-do del restaurante. Se sentía cada vez más incómo-da hasta que no pudo tolerarlo más. Se levantó y con prisa se acercó a la mesa del hombre y le dijo: "Es una falta de educación clavar los ojos en una persona desconocida, ¿por qué me miras?" El hombre le respondió: "Yo no estoy mirando a us-ted señora, ¡Soy ciego!" La mujer estaba tan aver-gonzada que salió de la cafetería ni siquiera paran-do para recuperar sus pertenencias. El camarero tuvo que perseguirla por la calle.

Hay una ceguera que es peor que la falta física de la vista. Como dice la vieja canción: "No hay peor ciego que el que no quiere ver...." Esto es lo que nos impide ver lo bueno en los demás, así como nuestros propios defectos. Irónicamente, Bartimeo en el Evangelio de hoy veía mejor que nadie porque reconoció a Jesús como el único que podía concederle la vista--el Mesías. Tuvo la vista interior de la fe, y Nuestro Señor fue, obviamente, movido por su súplica apasionada, "Maestro, quie-ro ver." Ojalá valientemente pudiéramos hacer nuestra esa oración. Digo valientemente porque recibir la vista física significaba que la vida del hombre se cambiaría radicalmente para siempre. Él ya no podría confiar en la caridad de los demás como un mendigo. Ahora tendría que trabajar para ganarse la vida. Quitarnos nuestras propias anteo-jeras requiere valor porque significa que tenemos que ver el mundo no como somos, sino como es de verdad. Entonces podemos ver las cosas a través de los ojos de Dios. Esto es la sabiduría. ¿Queremos ver?

VIVIR LA EUCARISTÍA - DECÁLOGO PA-RA PARTICIPAR CORRECTAMENTE EN

LA SANTA MISA Eucaristía Actitudes, formas de, comportamientos adecuados,

para vivir la Santa Misa Por eso, les traigo aquí el siguiente “Decálogo para participar

correctamente en la Santa Misa“: 1.- Si vas a una fiesta viste ropa de fiesta.

2.- Que tu misa sea completa, escucha misa entera. 3.- Ninguna llamada puede ser más importante que la de Él.

4.- Dejen que los niños se acerquen a mí. 5.- Se puente y no obstáculo para los demás.

6.- Cuida Su casa, que es tu casa y nuestra casa. 7.- Que tu boca sea para alabar al Señor.

8.- Que nadie ocupe tu lugar. 9.- Trátalo como se merece.

10.- Estar siempre preparado.

1.- Si vas a una fiesta viste ropa de fiesta.

Tal vez te preguntes ¿le interesa a Dios como visto? ¿Si Él me ama tal como soy por qué preocuparnos del vestido? ¿Si el impor-tante soy yo, por qué darle importancia a lo externo? ¿Qué tiene de

malo ir cómodos y confortables a misa? Sabemos profundamente que vestir bien va con ocasiones impor-tantes. ¿Es para ti ir a misa una ocasión importante? la forma en que vestimos refleja cuanto respetamos al anfitrión y la dignidad

del evento. Es verdad que el interior es muy importante, por eso, necesaria-

mente lo del interior tendrá que manifestarse en lo exterior. Todo nuestro ser debe prepararse para la gran celebración que es la misa dominical. Todo lo visible ayuda a elevarnos al Dios invi-sible. Si no vestimos la mejor ropa para la Santa Misa, ¿Para quién la reservamos? El pudor y el respeto nos deben guiar. No vayas a Misa con short, bermudas, chancletas, minifaldas, escotes, gorras,

etc.

2.- Que tu misa sea completa, escucha misa entera. Cuando vamos al cine ¿Qué tan frecuente es llegar pasados10 mi-nutos desde que inicio la película; y que tan frecuente es salirnos

antes del último capítulo que marca el final? Cuando vas a un espectáculo o concierto, ¿Te da igual llegar un

buen tiempo después de que el concierto inicio? ¿Y cuándo vas a misa? Como católicos se nos invita a “oír misa entera” es decir,

participar activa y conscientemente en la Eucaristía. La Misa empieza cuando el sacerdote se dirige al altar y nos pone-

mos de pie para recibirlo. La Misa termina cuando el sacerdote besa el altar, abandona el templo y se hace el canto final. Al termi-nar no salgas precipitadamente, es de bien nacidos ser agradecidos hasta que el sacerdote entra en la sacristía o este fuera del templo

saludando a los participantes.
