REFLECTION

PANIC … PANIC! … PANIC? …  Sure that is what we have in our vicinity. It is affec ng the simplest part of our lives. I did not imagine that even the biggest of the stores can run out of items to sell. I just can’t imagine what happened, when I was at the counter to pay for what I had taken from the store that I saw cart loads of groceries lying in the store doors. It seemed that the person who went in to buy those groceries changed their minds and just le the things there una ended. But what do we get from all the panic that we see all around us? Nothing but misdirected and disturbed people not knowing exactly what to do. It is like a car sliding on the icy road with no control at all. It is nice to see ourselves prepared for any eventuality and s ll can do the normal things that we do each day. We s ll do know what is important for us and our love ones and con nue to care for one another. I know that I was not exempted from the commo ons happening all around us. I was worried if Fr. Tom will have food just in case there will be a lockout for two weeks. These coming days I am worried if I can freely go to the hospitals or places of care just in case there is a sick call. I know that they will be asking me if I can pay the salaries of our employees at the paydays when there is no money in the bank because there were no collec ons at Masses that bring income to our church. But aside from this pandemonium, I guess there is more to look forward to. We are worried about this virus, but we hope to be there when our children start complaining that they have no food. Look out for those who will be directly hit by those eventuali es and have an open hands for those in need.

PARISH WEBSITE: www.sthilarychicago.org

Look not only at your personal needs, but be mindful and sensi ve to the people around you who are not able to express their fears. Listen to those unspoken fears. These are the mes to be family, caring and loving to each other. Call the friends you have and be part of their support system. Maybe the children need things to do when they cannot go to school; share ways to instruct them. I always go back to the me when Jesus mul plied bread and fed the thousands. He asked His disciples to give them food themselves. Those who were with them said, these are all we have, meaning it is not enough for all of us. S ll, Jesus provided and they had more than they needed. Let me ask you - is Jesus with us in this me of need or are we not making Him part of what is happening in our world? Allow Him to come and break bread with you. Sincerely

Fr. Aloy

PRAYER TO PADRE PIO FOR PROTECTION AND HEALING FROM THE CORONAVIRUS

Jesus, I present to You my soul and my body. I trust You, Lord and Creator of the universe. You are Life, You are Hope, You are the resurrection from death. You, Lord, are the Health of the sick. Lord, I turn to You, imploring your divine help. Intervene with Your saving power and protect us from the Coronavirus epidemic. Strengthen my immune system and protect my body and those of my loved ones from the virus and other infectious diseases. We are the sheep of Your flock and You are our Good Shepherd. I trust in Your great love and in Your benevolence. Already now, I say to You with deep faith: thank You, Jesus, for all that You will do for me, my loved ones, and for each of us. Deign to heal those who are already suffering from Coronavirus, and give them the strength to fight this virus and the tenacity to overcome it. Lord Jesus, You who took upon Yourself our pains and for Your holy wounds through which we were healed, grant us life, life in abundance. I ask You, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Your mother and our mother, the one who was at your feet at the cross, for help at this difficult time. I thank You, Lord, with all my heart, for the coronavirus patients You are healing with Your great compassion and mercy. Give heavenly comfort to those who have been called to the house of the heavenly Father. Padre Pio, I turn to you with this prayer to ask for your protection from the Coronavirus. Let those who have fallen ill all over the world hope for recovery, regain their health, and grow in faith. Padre Pio, illuminate the minds of researchers and scientists. Guide their minds and hands so they can find an effective coronavirus preventative vaccine. Extend your blessing on them. Padre Pio, give strength to doctors who work in hospitals so they may treat the coronavirus patients with compassion and wisdom. Make them recognize Jesus in every patient. Amen.

ST. HILARY PARISHIONERS, PLEASE PRAY WITH US EVERY DAY AT 8:30 AM, WHEREVER YOU MAY BE, SO WE WILL BE ONE IN SPIRIT WITH GOD.

Calm in the Coronavirus World - FOCUS ON GOD Psalm 23 “THE DIVINE SHEPHERD”

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. (GOD LEADS & PROVIDES.) 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures. (GOD GIVES REST.) 3 He restores my soul. (GOD RENEWS.) He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. (GOD SHOWS US THE WAY.) 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, (GOD SHINES IN THE DARKNESS.) for Thou art with me. (GOD IS EVER PRESENT.) Thy rod and they staff, they comfort me. (GOD DISCIPLINES.) 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies. (GOD PROTECTS.) Thou anointest my head with oil. My cup overflows. (GOD BLESSES ABUNDANTLY.) 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; (GOD IS MERCIFUL.) and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (GOD’S LOVE IS ETERNAL.)

LET US ALL LIVE AS A PERSON OF FAITH AT THIS TIME. TRUST IN GOD. USE CAUTION. BE SAFE BUT KIND. GOD WILL MAKE A WAY!!!

Rose-colored (rather than purple) vestments are also allowed, symbolizing the joys of this life mingled with a certain amount of sadness.
