So the new address is www.stignatiuschurchignacio.com The story of the disciples on the Road to Emmaus is the story of our Holy Mass…the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Jesus, the Word Incarnate, comes to the two disciples and explains everything that is written about Him in the Scriptures and how those Scriptures point to Him…to Him coming among us out of pure love and saving us. That is the Liturgy of the Word that we celebrate in every Mass. Then, He joins those disciples for a meal and they recognize him in the breaking of the bread… “And it happened that, while he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him…” The Liturgy of the Eucharist, the very Body and Blood of Jesus brought to us in every Consecration offered by our priests and in every Communion received by us at Mass. Jesus Himself becoming incarnate with us in the most intimate and personal way. Jesus, in every Mass, sending us out on our mission to spread the Gospel…but never alone. Jesus walks with us along the personal road of our lives. These are confusing times for us...maybe even distressing...our Road to Emmaus perhaps. Let's remember that as Jesus walked with the two disciples, he walks with us. Jesus brings clarity to confusion and peace to disruption.
