moment, a sense of the unity of all things, a gift ofuniversal love. Jesus said "I will not leave you orphaned; Iam coming to you. In a little while the world will no longersee me, but you will see me; because I live, you also willlive. On that day you will know that I am in my Father, andyou in me, and I in you. They who have mycommandments and keep them are those who love me;and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and Iwill love them and reveal myself to them." God is loveand through love we are transformed more deeply intolove. This week I will be away from Northfield and in my firstResidency with the Shalem Institute in Baltimore. Thecourse I am taking is teaching me how to be aContemplative Leader. I am eager to study the rich Christian heritage of thecontemplative dimension of our spirituality. There aremany practices, prayers, methods that can help us togrow in God's extraordinary love. I am excited to bringthem back to Northfield. I will keep you in my prayers and ask you to keep me inyours. O God, you have prepared for those who love you suchgood things as surpass our understanding: Pour into ourhearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in allthings and above all things, may obtain your promises,which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christour Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the HolySpirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

With you on the journey,

and in our Companion Dioceses for: San Juan Evangelista in Acayucan, South EastMexico & St. James in Lathbior in Renk, South Sudan

At the request of the Presiding Bishop, Prayers for South Sudan:

God, help all of us love peace. Use your wisdom to guide the leaders of all countries, sothat your peace may grow until the world is filled with the knowledge of your love, now and

forever. Amen.

Almighty God, the Father of all humanity, we offer up the crisis in South Sudan; turn, wepray, the hearts of all peoples and their rulers, that by the power of your Holy Spirit, peace

may be established among the nations on the foundation of your justice, righteousness andtruth.

God of love, whose compassion never fails, we bring before you the grief and perils of the

peoples of South Sudan; the necessities of the homeless; the helplessness of the aged andweak; the sighing of prisoners; the pains of the sick and injured; the sorrow of thebereaved. Comfort and relieve them, O merciful Father, according to their needs.

For those who are sick: O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers;

mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your servants the help of your power, that theirsickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.
