Welcome! I want to personally and warmly welcome all of you! For more than 24 years now, St. Maria
Goretti parish has been building the Kingdom of God, not with a few people, but with everyone! I pray
that you will come to know St. Maria Goretti as we all hope it to be and are continuing to strive in our
efforts to make it—this is our Spiritual Home and a Loving Community. We are glad you are here and
look forward to meeting you! God Bless you. —Father Dudzinski
WELCOME: Jacob & Jessica Jordan, Michael & Lauren Acquaviva, Joshua & Christine Sampia
A NOTE FROM FATHER DUDZINSKI
+JMJ+
Greetings and God’s blessings
to all of you! “Where your treasure
is, there will your heart be also.” —
Mt. 6:21 Are you “fired up?” What
should you be “fired up” about?
Well, there are a lot of things, but
one consistent should be our Faith!
God is so good to us, but sadly we
don’t always appreciate how He continues to bless and
watch over us! I just want to reiterate that God is on
our side! He wants to be Lord of our life. He loves
us! He wants us to be with Him for all eternity and He
gives us everything we need to get there. Those are
facts that we need to let strengthen and guide us! So,
with all of that, I hope you can understand why I am
constantly “fired up” and wanting to share that “fire”
with all of you!
As we move forward in our Uniting in Heart jour-
ney within the Diocese I believe it is important that
we keep at the fore of our thinking and hearts, if you
will, the relationship we are called to with Jesus. Je-
sus is the fullness of God’s revelation to us — which
means He communicated and communicates with us
through our relationship with Jesus. Yes, God com-
municates with us in many ways such as the Church,
Scripture, the Holy Spirit and the witness and words
of one another, just to name a few. Through Jesus we
come to know God in a personal way and we are able
to focus on a tangible reality that allows us to go deep-
er in our faith.
When I talk about a personal relationship with Je-
sus, I am talking about falling in love with Jesus.
Jesus loves us so very much. He wants us to love Him
with all of our hearts. The two great commandments
are to love God with all of our hearts, souls and very
being… and to love our neighbor as ourselves. How
can we really love God unless we know Him; and how
can we know Him unless we spend time with Him and
reflect in prayer on our relationship with Him?
This weekend is our Catholic Ministries Appeal.
As you probably know by now, this appeal replaces the
Fruitful Harvest campaigns from the past and is part
of the continuing changes happening within our dio-
cese and parish. The reason for this change is to fo-
cus on the many ministries that are supported
through this appeal, and to increase the transparency
of how funds raised from this appeal support the
works of Christ directly through the diocese, as well
as through the ministries that support each of our lo-
cal parishes.
I don’t always think everyone understands how
the diocese funds the various programs and ministries
of the diocese. These ministries benefit so many peo-
ple throughout the diocese and also support the par-
ishes to in their ministries to their parishioners. Here
are the areas:
* Clergy support * Vocations
* Permanent Diaconate * Catholic Schools
* College Ministries * Pastoral Ministries
* Hispanic Ministries * Retreat Center
* Catechesis * Charities
* Family Life
As a priest, someone in formation or the promo-
tion of vocations and the permanent deacons we have
throughout the diocese, we are assisted by the diocese
and information and training is provided, which is not
free; it all has to be funded. The same could be said
about the other areas on this list as well. Your contri-
butions are a big help to so many people in the diocese
and in our parish!
At the parish level we are supported by the diocese
in the areas of: administration, technology, hu-
man resources, the marriage tribunal, divine
worship, stewardship, planned giving and com-
munication. All of these are provided from the dio-
cese so we can reach out, minister to, and communi-
cate with all of you in necessary ways. Thank you for
sharing your treasures and your heart with so many!
St. Maria Goretti… Pray for us!

WHAT TO WATCH ON FORMED.ORG
Padre Pio: Between Heaven and Earth
Based on the historical records and the personal testimony of his fellow friars, this is the amaz-ing true story of the life of the famous stigmatic monk, St. Padre Pio, a contemporary saint who died in 1968. Blessed with incredible spiritual gifts, including healing, bi-location, reading of souls, and the stigmatic wounds, Padre Pio was a powerful witness for Christ, and a great spir-itual guide to countless souls for more than 50 years. Filmed on location in Italy, starring Michele Placido in a moving performance, this film tells the whole story of the beloved monkfrom San Giovanni Rotondo, a place where mil-lions of pilgrims annually visit the saint’s grave.
St. Padre Pio’s Feast Day is Wednesday, September 23.

REFLECTION FOR
THE 25TH SUNDAY IN
ORDINARY TIME
Today we hear Jesus say, “You too go in my vineyard, and I will give you what is
just.” How can you show respect to those you work with and who work for you? How can you be a force for peace and justice?
The third Sunday of Sep-tember is celebrated as Catechetical Sunday in order to acknowledge, appreciate, and commission those who
are catechists. St. John Paul ll said, “Among the laity who become evangelizers, catechists have a place of honor...Catechists are among those who have received Christ’s command to ‘go and teach all nations.’” Today we celebrate and show immense gratitude to all who teach our beautiful Catholic faith. Spreading the Good news is what it’s all about!
THANK YOU! May God infinitely bless your for your service to our church community!

JOIN THE NATIONAL LIFE CHAIN! Last year, SMG was among 13 Westfield churches to participate in LifeChain. This is a peaceful and prayerful public witness by the Christian community stand- ing for one hour, silently praying for our
nation and for an end to abortion. The 11th Annual Westfield LifeChain is Sunday, October 4, 2:30–3:30pm (rain or shine) at the intersection of SR 32 and Union Street. LifeChain signs will be distributed from Had-ley Park at 2:15pm. Bring your entire family! Partici-pants may bring consumable baby items (diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, etc.) for moms and babies in need in Hamilton County. For more information, call Susan Morris, 317-896-5164. OUR LADY INVITES YOU For several years, America Needs Fatima has orga-nized groups to pray the rosary in a public place in an effort to stop moral decay in America. This year, you’re invited to pray a rosary Saturday, October 10, at noon. (This is the Saturday closest to October 13, the day
Mary appeared in Fati-ma, Portugal.) Park in SMG’s north lot and walk to the banner (note photo, left) near Spring
Mill Road. Please arrive by 11:45am so we can begin praying at noon with 20,000 other groups also pray-ing. This is a “rain or shine” event. If you have any questions, call Ken Norus, 317-730-7879.
